My daughter CAN'T be a flower girl :-(

Ester C, on July 19, 2011 at 10:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

We just came back from the church and in the pamphlet they gave us it says flower petals cannot be thrown down the aisle. Our 3 yr old daughter was going to be my FG...now what big role can I have her do? I want her IN the ceremony not just off on the side handing out programs or bubbles. She's too little to do a reading. Any ideas?

The flower girl can do different things. i have seen the flower girl doing bubbles. Some churches dont like the mess so you can find other things if needed. a Wedding ribbon wand may be cute too.

Why can't she still be a flower girl? There are flower balls she can hold and walk down the aisle...flower girls don't always have to toss flowers or petals.

Flower girls don't NEED to Throw petals.

They can hold a kissing ball.

a pretty basket with silk flowers.

    wave a ribbon wand.

    hold a sign

    ring a bell...

Have her walk with a flower ball and look very pretty, she can still do her role just no flower throwing. the flowers look like a ball on a ribbon.

Oh, i'm sure you can definitely find something for her to do! I love the kissing ball idea or just carrying some kind of flower bouquet! My future step daughter will be our FG and I couldn't imagine her not being! you'll find a way! Smiley smile

Dana, I'm glad you got ideas. I was going to suggest that she just walk with the basket and not throw the petals because I've seen that before and it was still adorable or the kissing ball idea. Smiley smile

My neice was my flower girl. She is two and a half, so too young to do much. We got married in a State park, and they said even the bouquets could not be real (they are very strict about possible cross pollination).

I had her walk down the aisle with a flower basket and blow bubbles. She loved it!

Oh, and the bubble bottle was hidden in the flowers in the basket, so all you ever saw was the decorated wand and a basket of flowers for pix.

Most churches don't allow the petals anymore - ours doesn't. We're just having ours carry a small basket of flowers.

Lol half the flower girls I've seen, especially at her age, don't throw the petals (in fact, the bride scattered petals ahead of time, just because of that) so if you were just to glue flowers to the inside bottom of the basket to make it pretty and have her walk with a basket, that would probably work just as well.

We can have petals, but are thinking about just doing one of the flower kissing ball things because that way we won't have to clean up the petals after.

My daughter will be holding a flower pomander like Hayley posted above. We got one off of Etsy that is fake flowers and feathers. It is very cute and she loves walking around with it!

Our flower girl is going to have fairy wings and a "magic" wand that had bubbles in it. There are so many ideas, of the 4 times I was a flower girl, only once i threw petals. No matter what, she's going to look adorable and still feel important.

You could have your daughter carry a small bouquet of flowers that mimics yours. Most little girls like to dress up just like mommy.

My church does not allow petals (real or fake) either. My niece is our FG and I got her a little bouquet of flowers. If you want her to be the FG, then there are a lot of other options. I am sure you will think of the best thing for your wedding. Smiley smile
