My boss fired my friend and offered me her job.

Holy crap. Would you take the job? He wants me to tell him tomorrow.. I would feel bad telling her but it is more commission. He stared off paying me more hourly then her (she got me in) because I have more experience than she does. (She's been with the company 3.5 years) I would feel bad taking it...

(She's been with the company 3.5 years) I would feel bad taking it but I could use the extra money for the wedding.. and I would only be working here until the wedding. After that I quit working and go to nursing school. I'm still in shock!!

I'd take it, especially if you're not planning on working there after the wedding. It's short term, I see no problem with it.

Take it. She is already fired. She will get over it.

No. Nope. Wouldn't do it. I have very little friends and the friends that I do have are not considered just friends they're considered family so for family to do that to me no they wouldn't be family anymore I don't treat my friends like that

Julie, the OP didn't get her fired (at least I don't think she did since she wouldn't say) so how is she "doing" anything to her friend? I would want my friend to have a better job if they could, she's fired regardless.

I agree with OG Matt- i don't think taking the job is a bad thing especially if you had nothing to do with her getting fired. But telling her you got offered her job the day she got fired and in a company she helped you get into might sting....

She said she was okay with it so I would just take it and if it comes up again just mention that the salary increase was too good to pass up since you are paying for the wedding and need savings for while you are in school but you are grateful about the warning.

I would talk to your friend, explain what happened and that you will be taking her spot. If she's mature she will be fine.

Thank you all (: I haven't given my boss an official answer. She seems find with whatever choice I make. She already found a new job she's stoked about much closer to her house and she gets Friday's off which she's been wanting. For me the job would be temporary and only a means to make more money to save so that my FH won't have to worry about taking on my part (car payment, no help on other expenses like the house since we already live together) and other things after I quit working in less than 8 months. I'd probably be able to pay my car off before the end of this year since I've already been saving quite a bit and have a decent amount for him to use while I'm in school. I think she understands it's for the benefit of our life rather than me throwing it in her face that I got her job.. I would NEVER. So thank you for all the advice. It's very awkward for sure but knowing that it's temporary makes it better for me and I'm sure for her.

Take the job and don't mention it unless she asks

I would take it in a heartbeat. No second thoughts. I tend to be a super bitch, though.

I would take it. Talk to your friend about it and let her know the situation if you like. You werent the one that fire her so it is not like its your fault. And it wouldn't be fair for you to miss an opportunity over something you have no control.
