My boss fired my friend and offered me her job.

Savanah, on November 1, 2016 at 1:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 56

Holy crap. Would you take the job? He wants me to tell him tomorrow.. I would feel bad telling her but it is more commission. He stared off paying me more hourly then her (she got me in) because I have more experience than she does. (She's been with the company 3.5 years) I would feel bad taking it but I could use the extra money for the wedding.. and I would only be working here until the wedding. After that I quit working and go to nursing school. I'm still in shock!!

Absolutely! This isn’t about friendship and you didn’t get her fired. Unless you are the reason she got fired…but then I doubt you would be asking us.

Take the job… help the friend find a new/better job… I wouldn’t even mention this to her.

Take the job! It's not your fault, you didn't fire her!

I would tell her immediately before she hears otherwise. But I would absolutely take the job

It's not your fault she was fired and if you don 't take it, someone else will. It's sad it happened but I would take it. Someone has to take the job and I think your friend would understand since it's not her job anymore.

Agree with PP. It's not you who fired her. Take the job.

I would. I don't think I'd have a problem with it at all if it was me. It's not personal, and you're not directly the reason she was fired. You need the money and there's an opportunity for you, so take it.

I'd take it. Her getting fired had nothing to do with you (i assume).

Why would you not? I wouldn't even tell your friend honestly that you've moved into that position

Take the job, this is your life and future career. Any true, adult friend may feel upset for a while (getting fired sucked, and that is kind of icing on the cake) but it is in no way your fault.

I would take it (assuming you're not the reason she got fired). If not, someone else will take it.

Yesss as @FutureMrsDJ said, do not tell your friend you are taking her position unless she asks for some reason.

I don't want to discuss why she was fired. But the opportunity is great. She averages 700-1000$ in commission a month while at my tiny office I only made $200. Luckily my hourly is good.. commission is just an incentive to bust our asses a little more. But that extra money could really be helpful. I told her and she's fine with it but she said watch your back.

I would go for it! You didn't fire her and its not like you conspired to get her fired b/c you wanted the position.

I would take it.. Fired is fired.. I've learned in life that I've been a stepping stone for so many people, and have let a lot of coworkers use me to get the job and better pay.. I sit back and "be a friend" , I recently changed and started thinking, at times, I need to think of myself. Take the job, if you earned it and you feel you have deserved it!
