Multicultural Wedding

Molly, on October 28, 2019 at 7:11 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
So my FH is Spanish his family is from The Dominican Republic and most understand/speak little English. He has a lot of family who live in the water that we plan to invite. I will be turning the English save the date, invites, etc to both laungages.

Does everyone else plan to have a multicultural wedding and having different language save the date, invites, etc!

Just a quick note, they are Latino, not Spanish! My FH is white and my family is Latino. Most of my family speaks English just fine, but we will be inviting some family from Guatemala (my family’s home country) and those will be in Spanish. Also, make sure to have someone in his family sign off on the wording of things, as Spanish in Latin American countries varies greatly.

That’s awesome! Have fun Smiley smile planning multicultural weddings can be a challenge. We’re trying to find a good balance between both our cultures and traditions.

Yes. I had to do a whole separate invite in my home language.

My FH is Latino. He grew up as an only child and comes from a very small extended family. The majority of his relative are bilingual. His grandmother, however, only speaks Spanish. I think it would be great to have an invite in Spanish just for her!

Concerning the wedding, we're in the very early stages of planning. I'd love to incorporate some multicultural aspects into the ceremony....just not sure what they would be just yet!
