Moving and wedding planning

Tiffany, on November 21, 2020 at 10:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
I’m getting married in June & currently me & FH live separately. We would like to buy a house to be moved in by the wedding. I’m currently in grad school & doing an internship which will be done in March with grad. in May. Wedding planning, grad school, working, internship is already stressful on top of a pandemic 😩 My question is, is starting the house process in March too late? We would like to close & move in closer to the wedding because things will be paid off for the wedding as the time gets closer.

It probably depends on the market where you are buying. Reach out to a realtor in your area and get their advice on how competitive the market is right now (i.e. is it a buyer’s or a seller’s market). I know where I live, inventory is very low bc people aren’t moving due to COVID. That means every house that comes on the market has multiple offers and many people are trying for months not only to find a house, but to then be the winning offer. Maybe things will get better next spring, but that’s where a professional realtor’s advice and outlook on the market will be helpful for you. Good luck!

Hello! Congrats & what a huge schedule of events!

First off, let me say, I know it can be done; once you plan accordingly. I would say give it 8 weeks, that should be enough time to look for something and close.
Take your time, and don’t rush into anything. Buying a home is a big deal, and can sometimes be stressful. Use an educated and seasoned realtor.

That's tricky, it depends on the market where you're looking.

This is absolutely a get a professional problem. And MORE THAN ONE.

I bought a condo 6 years ago, and I made it *very* clear that I had a *super busy* May, so I needed everything done before then. I started in February.

...We closed, on my birthday, IN MAY.

So, I had to move during my super busy month.

After I had said, repeatedly, get this done BEFORE MAY.
