My mother in law will be wearing this gown in platinum silver. It has a 3 foot train. My fiance and I begged her not to get it and left the store in tears. She is 56 and a size 16. The store consultant and owner kept saying the mother of the bride should never upshow you make sure you own the day....

Are you worried about her taking attention from you or upset because she cares more about herself than your wedding? If it's the latter, I understand. If she's narcissistic and selfish, the dress could be the turd on top of the shit sundae. No matter what, your wedding is about you and your fh. Your guests are there for the two of you and you'll shine. Try not to stress, because at the end of the day the battle is not worth it.

Lord have mercy. Did the store have mirrors?

No one can upstage you - any attention she gets will be unfavorable.

What's your relationship with her? Is there a reason you think she's going so over the top?

Personally, I think it is a pretty dress. If I am seeing it correctly, it is not really a three foot train, it is three feet of fabric draping that may be 8-12 inches on the ground.

She will not upstage you and seems to be excited to look fabulous for your special day.

Seriously, you need to learn to let stuff like this go. If you let one outfit "change your relationship" with a person who's going to be part of your family for DECADES then you have a problem, and you need to rethink your attitude. You don't get to dictate what anyone else wears. Get over yourself.
