Most overplayed wedding songs?

I think I heard John Legend's "All of Me" played at every single wedding I went to last year either as first dance or the bridal entrance. I love the song, but was tired of it so we won't be using it.

Wow... I haven't heard of most of these songs. Guess I'm gong to be doing a lot of youtubing.... But then again, if they're pop music, I understand why I don't know them. I don't do pop. I actually cringe when I hear it, and hate most of the newer country because its too poppy sounding.

I love a lot of these songs, "All of Me" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" are on my playlist for our ceremony musicians to play while the guests are waiting. Overplayed or not I really love how they sound when a trio is performing and for my guests that haven't had that experience I hope they get to enjoy. As for my special songs, walking down the isle, first dance, etc. I still have not finished my list. I have some songs that are really special to me and that are nowhere even close to being on this list

Well I have a few overplayed on my list! I just finished up my list for the dj and was idgaf just write something down.

Ehh like they said though, someone really only goes to 1-5 weddings a year probably, so who really cares if they have the same first dance at all of them? I'd hate for you to not pick your favorite song that means something to you both at worry of it being overplayed. If you don't have any songs that are favorites though, then i agree with not picking something obvious.

I haven't heard anyone say "My little girl" by Randi Travis for father/daughter. That's what I'm using because my dad loves that song. I plan to play "Living on Love" for my parents as well. I'm not a fan of country but my parents and some relatives really like it so I requested that my band play a few songs they will know.

I haven't been to a wedding in the last 3 years. I don't know if any of my songs are over played. I don't really care either way. I just picked the songs I liked.

I think this is an area where IDGAF should just kick in, I mean seriously there is no song more played that Pachabel's Canon, and it's still short hand for "wedding". There is something nice about songs that people traditionally associate with weddings. And you should pick what you love!

I am totally walking to Canon in D and even apologized to the string trio LOL. But we picked unique classical pieces for the processional and recessional and gave them free rein for the cocktail hour music. It is ok to pick what you like even if overplayed!

I love alot of these songs that are being played to death at weddings, I found going with instrumental versions of them helps. There are a ton of covers out their with pianos or cellos or violins for alot of the popular songs

Tangent, apologies, but figured you guys would get a kick out of this.

A fellow engaged friend suggested "Tacky" by Weird Al when I mentioned that I'm gonna make sure "Happy" is played at some point (not for a specific thing, just in general) given some of the tacky/bad mannered advice we'd heard the week before.

We are definately playing Happy at some point during the reception. Simply because my 14 yr old daughter HATES it! We will dedicate it to her too!

A Thousand Years, Thinking Out Loud, that ukulele version of somewhere over the rainbow, Single Ladies, Friends in Low Places

Dang.. I thought I had a stroke of genius when I thought of using Single Ladies for my bouquet toss.. guess not lol. Oh well!

Friends in Low Places?!! People play that at weddings? LOL. I requested "I'm a King Bee" from our guest blues singer and thought that was a little risque. Low places is way worse in my opinion.

The one song I wanted to play (that I've yet to hear at a wedding) got nixed by FH. He felt it wasn't a good bouquet toss song.

ETA: Who knew "Move Bitch, get out the way" wasn't a good wedding song...

I only see one on this list that I'm using so I'm doing pretty good so far. ha We are using very different songs that most people won't notice.

I agree that butterfly Kisses is one that got played way too much.
