Morning/brunch Wedding Reception

Jay, on June 10, 2021 at 8:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 16

I am getting married on a Friday morning. What are thoughts about having brunch, well breakfast foods instead of lunch or dinner? I love breakfast foods. I have been doing alot of research about weddings, wedding planning, receptions. Is there anyone else that may be having a weekday wedding or perhaps a breakfast/brunch reception?

I feel like breakfast/brunch is perfect for a morning wedding. I went to a Sunday wedding once that took place around lunch time (11am ceremony) and they served dinner-it was kind of odd having a 3 course steak dinner at 1pm. I feel like brunch food would make more sense.

My daughter had a brunch wedding and it was lovely (not to mention much more cost effective than dinner). She had eggs, croissants, frittatas, bacon, ham, sausage, country potatoes, fruit salad, pastries, and a cinnamon roll "tier" rather than cake. She also had a coffee/tea bar along with mimosas (beer and wine as well). The best part was that it was over by 4:30 so the older guests could go home and the younger ones (including bridal party) rented a party bus and had the night on the town.

I think it sounds really good, but I would expect a higher than normal decline right for a brunch wedding on a Friday because people have work.

Disclaimer: I am biased, breakfast/brunch is my favorite meal.

I think breakfast/brunch is great for a wedding. I feel like it is the one meal that pretty much everyone can find something they like - whether it's eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes, or muffins, cinnamon rolls, and pancakes. I know a lot of picky eaters of all ages, but I don't know a single person of any age that doesn't like breakfast.

We had a "brunch" type menu for our Friday afternoon wedding. It was a big hit. We had club sandwiches, quiche Loraine, salad, mixed fruit, coffee, tea and soda. We also had an apple tart and two kinds of tortes. Our reception started at 3:30 and it was the perfect amount to be able to stuff in a late night 9pm pizza run after lol.

Thank you, Hannah for your feedback.. I can imagine that it would odd eating a dinner like that so early, though I know people go to Outback for lunch/brunch at 11 am. Thanks!

JM, thank you for your feedback. It has greatly helped. I plan on having some of those same items. I still want a cake, but I am thinking about opting to have a small one or two layer cake for cake cutting and offering cupcakes, along with cinnamon rolls and etc. My fiancee doesn't drink, so we have opted to not have any alcohol. But I am still thinking about offering mimosas. Sounds like your daughter and her wedding party truly enjoyed themselves.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I absolutely love breakfast food and can eat pancakes and bacon anytime of day. I truly wanted to do something different. I have been to weddings that have been late afternoon and evening weddings and it was always heard for me to find something to eat besides the cake. I'm not a big meat lover, so breakfast/brunch seems to be a perfect solution. Additionally, it will be a small wedding, with less than 60 people.

I am having a brunch reception with ceremony at 11:00 in October, I can’t wait! I think it is a beautiful option and everyone will be able to enjoy the evening.

I never thought of this. My wedding is already set but this is an awesome option and I love the food served at your daughters wedding! I wish I could have country fried potatoes at mine!

This is what we are doing for our sunrise ceremony. We are having a sit down, full service breakfast reception at our favorite place. Due to the early hour of our ceremony (6AM), they’re also sending us with a coffee bar set up for at the ceremony to help perk up our guests Smiley smile
