Monogrammed Bridesmaid Gifts

Summerfield Bride, on September 4, 2014 at 12:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I am planning on giving my bridesmaids monogrammed tote bags with goodies/gifts in them. I would like to order them sometime soon and have found exactly what I want on Etsy. I am getting married in May 2015 so plenty of time left, I just don't want to leave everything until the last minute. The problem I am having is that one of my bridesmaids is getting married Sept 2015 and another will more than likely get engaged ( know this will be happening for a fact) by the end of this year. Since they will both be changing their names next year, do I use the monogram of their new initials or of their maiden names? Please help!

I'd ask them if that is something they'd want or use. But, if you do go that route, many brides do and plenty of ladies love them (just not my thing) maybe do a first initial, that probably wont change.

I got mine monogrammed and one of my girls is getting married in May, I used her new initials. I think it will be exciting for her to see. I would be excited to get a gift monogrammed with my soon to be initials!

I'd wait. Seriously. You have tons of time. If you're concerned about name changes I"d just forget about it until you're closer and have the answers solidified.

I'm doing the same thing and got my totes from Etsy too, although I am just using their first names on the bags. For the one that has a confirmed wedding date (and engagement!) I would say to go ahead and use her future last name...as for the other, I say to wait...I'm big on not jinxing anything and I think that doing that for the one who isnt engaged is a jinx and could put something bad into the universe

Just ask them which one they would prefer.

Or just use their first names.

Thanks yall! I think I will wait until the beginning of 2015 to place order, and I think I will definitely use the future name because I'd be excited if someone did that for me Smiley smile I live in the South so everything's monogrammed. Not huge on it for clothes and accessories but everybody needs a cute personalized bag!

I bought totes for my girls too... we did initials. One girl got married but is keeping her name so it was simple for me. But I did ask her so that I knew for certain. Everything else was personalized with first name or initial.

Only one of my BM is married so I did their first initial only. Also, check out The Knot Shop. I got their totes and make up bags for less than $25!

I'd just use their first initial. That way they can essentially use it forever regardless of name changes.
