Monday weddings

Lauren, on June 4, 2020 at 2:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
What are your thoughts for a Monday wedding in August? My fiancé and I were thinking people fly in Saturday/ Sunday have a welcome party and rehearsal dinner. Monday would be the wedding. We do have about 50% of the guest list and all of my fiancé’s family that would be flying in from out of town.

Weekday weddings are definitely cheaper (that's what I'm doing)! Just be prepared to potentially not have everyone able to attend; some people might not be able to take leave from their jobs if they work a regular M-F. You can stream it though if anyone can't attend!

Hi Lauren! Weekday weddings are becoming more and more popular, but I'd also think through the return travel for your guests since you mentioned lots of them were flying! Would those guests need to take Monday & Tuesday (or part of Tuesday) off work?

I'd also think about how long their flights are! I've been to several weddings in Boston on Sunday nights, but it was a really quick flight back to DC and they run hourly so I only had to take off an hour or two on Monday morning!

I would be less than thrilled about a Monday out of town wedding.
