Moissanite or Diamond Ring Engagement Ring?

I found this engagement ring with moissanite. It is one carat and looks luxurious. What do you think about moissanite instead of a diamond? + Lower cost than diamonds + looks like a diamond - it's not a diamond

I think it’s beautiful!! Many people are choosing non-diamonds now, choosing stones completely away from the traditional look of engagement rings. That said, I think it’s also easily accepted to choose stones that resemble diamonds but are not. I’m definitely for economical choices. I don’t think people should be taking out loans or racking up credit card debt just for a ring or for a wedding. My fiancé and I went with a man-made diamond. It is atomically/elementally the same as a mined diamond, but it is a better economical and ethical choice than mined.

Moissanite or Diamond Ring Engagement Ring? 1
My ring's moissanite, ordered and made through Etsy. I'm super happy with the size, clarity and sparkle, and I do get compliments on it from time to time. I've never had anyone even ask if it's a diamond or not, actually. I'd they asked I'd just tell them the truth.
I was already guilty about the cost of a wedding, I told him no more than $1,000 for a ring. The custom band was the bulk of the cost.
Do whatever fits best for you all!

Moissanite is a beautiful stone if you don't want to spend a lot for a diamond. It depends on the reason why you would prefer that to a diamond. When my husband and I went ring shopping before we got engaged we went to Lauren B. in NYC and she she showed us moissanite's and diamond's. She said most people can't tell the difference but every time she showed me the two stones I was able to pick out the real from the fake b.c moissanite shines differently. It has more of a rainbow affect then a real diamond. She was really surprised that I could tell the difference and then went on to say in real life you're not going to be comparing them side by side so no one would be able to tell. If it were me and I had to choose between an extremely small diamond and a nice size moissanite, I would pick the moissanite. If I were able to get a decent size diamond instead of a moissanite I would def. pick the real diamond. It all depends on your reasoning.

I'm not a fan of diamonds. My fiance got me my birthstone and I think it's beautiful. I love it

    It is beautiful!

My father was a jeweler when I was growing up and he would most often recommend white sapphire or a conflict-free diamond from Canada (they are typically microscopically engraved to differentiate from others) as an alternative because they are higher quality (thus usually have a better cut and the other C's- clarity, color, etc) and better insurance.
But the average person on the street won't know it's a diamond or not, nor is it anyone's business. Do what works for you within your budget.

I have a moissanite! I chose it purely because I liked the look of a clear stone and the price! Then I read how horrendous the diamond industry is and I was even more happy with my choice. No one has ever questioned me about what type of stone. I assume everyone thinks it’s a diamond but I don’t offer up the truth if I’m not asked! I chose a Forever One moissanite stone and to the untrained eye it’s indistinguishable from a diamond. We had it set in platinum so it feels heavy and luxurious to people who I’ve let hold it. It’s truly the best decision in my opinion if you want a diamond stone without the price tag. I recommend MoissaniteCo. The options ar endless and their instagram has great visuals for real rings! Good luck! Moissanite or Diamond Ring Engagement Ring? 2

I know I'm way late to this discussion, but just for additional reassurance I'm all for it. I'm doing Moissanite for my wedding band. All of these associated wedding costs are ridiculous. Honestly, if I'd known about Moissanite before, I would've told my fiance to just get me that for my engagement ring. It's ethical and economical.

Mine is an actual diamond but conflict-free. I read about natural diamonds and wasn't happy about what it can do to the environment. Therefore, I went with an ethically lab-grown diamond. My e-ring is about 1.6 ct. My FH did an awesome job picking a better color/clarity than a higher carat with not so good color/clarity. There weren't a lot of options at the time when he bought the ring. Anyways, it's very sparkly and so white. Mind you, that has no filter with no indoor lighting. I recently found out about Moissanites. I've never seen one in person so I can't compare them. But those rings are beautiful!Moissanite or Diamond Ring Engagement Ring? 3
