Hello I talked FH into updating the center stone in my engagement ring. My ring is an heirloom and I love it but I want to make it more my style. It currently has a princess 0.5 ct diamond in it. We have been looking at Moissanite gemstones instead of have a typical diamond. They are beautiful and much cheaper (I can get a 1.5 ct stone) does anyone have a Moissanite or diamond alternative? How much where they? How are they holding up? Does it look like a diamond? Please post pictures Smiley smile I attached a picture of my current ring

Thank you s.s. I completely agree! I love my ring and I definitely don't lie about the stone.

I've had my moissanite e-ring for almost a year and it looks just as sparkly and pretty as the day FH gave it to me.

I second what K.M said. It is not a "fake diamond". I love all these rings! I have morganite and I love it!

So your ruining an heirloom ring and ignoring the significance of that because you want to get a fake big diamond for people to think you have a big real diamond?

Sigh Rejie. You CANNOT tell people how to post or not to post. It is against the community guidelines

Nope. She was being blunt. We aren't here to sugar coat. A lot of people chose to get moissanites because we liked them. We didn't get them to fool people into thinking we have a bigger diamond.

I would just ignore them if they really bother you that much, this is the Internet and it is not a requirement for people to always be nice

It's a public forum, so as long as their not violating guidelines, users are free to post what they want.

The forum isnt there for people to give you kind comments. Its for advice and opinions which are sometimes blunt and to the point but true

"Stay positive and respectful. The community is made of different people from across the world who have different opinions and experiences. We will not tolerate any posts which are intended to offend or belittle another member, or the community in general. It is acceptable to respectfully critique an idea, not a person."

Guideline 1 - I understand that people have different opinions and such...but when she asks for no negativity, is that not in line with the guideline that says "stay positive". To me it is essentially the same thing, right?

I also understand that everyone may have a different definition of what is respectful, but to me accusing someone of ruining a ring because they want a bigger fake diamond can be kind of disrespectful... especially when there are so many people who have different reasons for wanting a moissanite ring instead of a diamond ring?

Not trying to be argumentative....just actually curious.

@VanessaT Thank you very much. I have been on the fence about this website because of all the negative comments I read on other forums. I'm fine with others opinions but I just find it so rude when people attack others for the way that they decide to live their life

Hi Rejie. Your ring is pretty. I don't know anything about Moissanite, so I'm no help with that. But I can help you with your avatar. It looks like you set up a profile picture on the app, but that's different from setting up an avatar, and you can't set up an avatar through the app. If you want to post the full picture or email it to community@weddingwire.com, I'll set it up for you.

I see that you got frustrated with a response you didn't like, too, and you do need to remember that it's against our Community Guidelines to tell someone to leave or not to post. Trying to tell people not to be negative just doesn't work. It's a public forum, and everyone is welcome to give their opinions and responses as long as they don't violate the Community Guidelines. If you see posts that you think violate the CG's, please feel free to flag them for moderator review.

@Fiddlin - I really am not and just was trying to clarify that I was not directing that post to any 1 person or looking to argue about it but rather, have some clarification such as what was provided by WWLaura without getting my head bitten off by different users.

My cousin has a moissanite ring and she has a love hate relationship with it. She loves that she was able to get a bigger stone for less money, but she does feel it's a little cloudier and doesn't reflect light like a diamond does.
