Moissanite engagement ring center stone

Rejie, on January 5, 2017 at 5:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 57

Hello I talked FH into updating the center stone in my engagement ring. My ring is an heirloom and I love it but I want to make it more my style. It currently has a princess 0.5 ct diamond in it. We have been looking at Moissanite gemstones instead of have a typical diamond. They are beautiful and much cheaper (I can get a 1.5 ct stone) does anyone have a Moissanite or diamond alternative? How much where they? How are they holding up? Does it look like a diamond? Please post pictures Smiley smile I attached a picture of my current ring

I would be hesitant to change an heirloom, but that is me personally (my ring is an heirloom as well).

My ring is a diamond simulation and I'm in love with it! I got a look of a $5,000 ring for 250 and no one can tell the difference! I then got to put the money towards other things that would have been used on a more expensive ring. I have only had my ring for a little over 2 weeks but it's held up great and still sparkles!

Rejie, I have a moissanite ring and I absolutely love it. It looks like a diamond to the naked eye.

ETA: My comment triple posted -___-

As far as price goes, I've seen loose moissanite stones being sold for $400-$1,000 depending on size, cut, and color.

I have a forever classic moissanite. It's 1 carat and I absolutely love it. Now they have Forever One moissanite which is near colorless...you could look into it.

I love love love love love love love my moissanite ring!

My cousin tried it on next to my mother's ring which is virtually the same size and cut, and mine was so much clearer and radiant than her diamond. No one can tell it's not unless you tell them.

I do recommend that if you're looking for a square cut, go for the cushion vs the princess... the princess or square brilliant moissanite is very splintery and that's a giveaway it's not a diamond.

FH is worried about its durability. And he's afraid it will fog. Has anyone had theirs for a really long time ?

UO I hate fake diamonds. Don't get the point. Why not have another semi precious stone?

If you think you have already updated your avatar to a picture through the app, you haven't because it's not an option to update it on the app! Smiley smile

I love my moissanite but I didn't choose it because it looked like a diamond. I don't ethically support diamonds for many reasons and I liked moissanite because it's almost as hard as a diamond so it holds up. My ring was a little over 3000.

I am honest about that it's not a diamond.

I got a moissanite because it's a moissanite and that's the stone I wanted. It's not a "fake" diamond and it's not intended to be. Moissanites are naturally found in meteorites. It's the stone of the stars and I love that. It's why I picked it.

If you're just trying to get a bigger stone and trick people into thinking you have a bigger diamond I wouldn't do it.
