Mismatched bridesmaids dresses are great, but what about the groomsmen?

Liz, on July 28, 2012 at 1:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I think that mismatched bridesmaids dresses are a great way to show each woman's individuality and make her comfortable with her purchase, I've seen great examples of the bridesmaids but they (pics on google) never show the groomsmen. What do they do when there are mismatched dresses?

My girls wore different style dresses but the guys all matched tux wise...if your think different colors the guys could wear matching toes and vest with the girl they are walking down with

They can be mismatched, too. Here's a link and a few pictures:

I was gonna suggest what Reenski posted. When my brother got married the BM wore different dresses (same color) and the GM wore same color suits, but different styles.

Well, I was thinking same tuxes, but different shades of ties and vests? Should they match their partner or should they just have the same color scheme and mismatch the patterns?

Do the girls have different color dresses, or just different styles of dresses? Are you absolutely sure on the tuxes or are you open to the guys wearing suits instead? Around here, you can find a suit for about as much as renting a tux, and at least they'd get to keep it.

But it depends on what you're going for overall. In tuxes, I don't think anything other than different color vests would stand out, and they would still end up looking pretty matchy, if that makes sense.

My girls were mismatched but the guys all wore the same tux. We talked about just having them show up in whatever black suit they own and giving them mismatched yellow ties but H didn't like that idea and thought it would be easier for some of them to rent than to worry about having a nice suit, shoes, etc.

If the girls are wearing different colors you could always have the guys in the same tux but different vests/ties?

I like those photos Reenski posted too!

My sister had all four of us BM in different colors and the GM wore a pocket square and tie to match each girl's dress.

Thank you for this! My girls are wearing mis-matched dresses (same color, same designer, but they get to pick the dress). I was trying to figure out what to do for the groomsmen... FH is wearing a gray suit (he already bought it, actually), and I'd like for the guys to be in gray suits as well. FH wants to tell them to wear whatever suit they already own, but I don't want one in tan, another in brown, one in black, etc. I want there to be SOME consistency... At least I know it will look good if they are all wearing the same color family!

My MOH will be in a different colored dress than the other BMs. I told fh that I want the guys opposite the girls. i.e. MOH is silver grey dress with Best man in blue vest and tie, BMs in blue dress Gm in silver grey vest and tie.

My gals are all wearing different dresses (and different colors!) and the groomsmen will be somewhat mismatched in whatever gray suit they decide to get/already own. I'll have pictures in 48 days!!

Reenski-I LOVE the groomsmen pics! That is a cool idea.

Personally, I think you can do it in any way that you want. I'm thinking about the same thing-BMs in different style of dresses, but same fabric, same color. If I do that (the color is like a navy blue), the GMs will probably all be in the same tux with a navy blue tie and vest.
