Hi everyone!

I'm looking to have my bridesmaids (1 MOH 5 maids) do mismatched dresses for my wedding. I see so many pictures on Pinterest, as well as real-life in recent weddings, that I adore the style of. I like the idea of each maid choosing her own dress - it could be from Target or Davids Bridal or whatever.. as long as it's a certain tone (I'm thinking maroon/burgundy), long, and not too flashy.

Has anyone done something similar? Do you think I should have each maid show me their dress before they buy it? Anything else I should think of before telling my maids to start looking?

I would also pick a store and fabric. I'm using Weddington Way (GAP Brand). It will look something like this

I really love this idea...here is an inspo photo but I will only have 3 attendants. I think we will opt for longer gowns.

I gave my ladies very specific color guidelines and went shopping with 3 of the 4 ladies to look. Three bought from Azazie and the fourth bought from Macy's. It was fabulous and everyone got to pick something they liked and felt good wearing. (And it made it very easy for me to choose the MOH; beforehand I had no idea how I would ever pick only one!)

I was just in a friend's wedding and we had mismatched dresses in the same color. We got ours from Azazie and they were wonderful!! Decently priced, great quality, came in a timely manner. I highly recommend Azazie!! I'll probably use them for my wedding as well.

I’m planning to ask them to each find a black dress. Hopefully that means they will get something they can wear again!

This is actually the best route, I wanted to have matching dresses but after ordering the sample dress from azazie it became very clear that the dress I wanted was not going to work. I told my girls to pick their own dress. We ended up using Davids because it was easier with two girls in two different states and also that way the color would be the same. The girls both showed me their dresses and I loved them. My mom made shawls for them and they wore matching shoes (their choice) at the end of the day the dresses were very similar both said they felt comfortable and beautiful all day!

My girls are all in different dresses in navy blue and knee length. I have each girl showing me what they picked just so I can get an idea of how they will all look. 2 out 5 have their dresses and 1 is going to borrow a dress I have. Another 1 is trying to get pregnant so she will wait closer to the time before getting a dress. If the colors are slightly different that doesn't really bother me.

I'm planning to do that with my bridesmaids. Each woman has a unique personality and style, and I want that represented. Plus I want them to be comfortable and happy with their choice! I am going to use azazie. All I ask of them is that it is burgundy, long, and the fabric is chiffon. Other than that, they can pick whatever style!

I LOVE the look of mismatched in different shades. I would tell them wear whatever in a certain color family. I only had a MOH so this wasn't relevant for me, but I told her any dress in a fall color.

The pro pics aren't back yet so this is the best pic we have but they all looked amazing and felt beautiful! ETA: gave them all a color swatch and length and let them pick whatever!

I only had one bridesmaid, so I don't have anything to add as far as that goes, but I just wanted to say that mismatched bridesmaid dresses are one of my favorite wedding trends!

Mine are all wearing the same dress in 4 different colors. I picked the colors and who got what, but was careful to pick a dress that was flattering for all shapes represented!

We did mismatched dress. We had a color family. My sister and daughter ended up in basically the same color. That made placement a pain but I love how it turned out! We did the same fabric and length.
