Military travel ban affecting weddings

Emily, on March 14, 2020 at 12:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

Has anyone else's wedding been affected by the military's coronavirus travel ban? Our wedding is next weekend, so FH has lost his best man and his older sister/brother in law (including ring bearer and flower girl).

Yup. My FH and I are both active duty as is one of the groomsmen and bridesmaid. We are all in CA and the wedding is supposed to be in WI. So much frustration....

So sorry that’s happening to you. My heart goes out to you, somehow we’ll all get through this (not like we have much of a choice).

Yea I am pretty upset that it has turned into this mess. I get why there is a panic. Everyone is worried about the elderly. The biggest problem I have is that so many elderly are still going about their day and doing unneccesary things like getting massages and going out to eat. All these travel bans won't do a darn bit of good if the people we are most concerned about won't play their part.

Yeah groom's uncle and aunt and one of my bridesmaids and her husband can't come. I don't get why they made the travel ban so far out, I think just until the end of the month was adequate.

I also agree with Jennifer- people are going to shopping malls and out to restaurants but can't drive a few hours to a wedding with less than 200 people. Seems crazy to me.

My fiancé is Active duty and we just had to postpone our May wedding. I live in NY and he lives in CA. I’m planning on flying out there to get married in the courthouse May 6th. Hoping the courthouses open then!

Check the website. We are both active duty in CA and there is now an email address for military personnel to try and set up for a license. I've been checking regularly bc of the situation we are in.

I am so sorry. I just realized my reply never posted to you. Are you coming to the San Diego area? If so Google "San Diego Diego marriage license." We were able to get an appointment to get a license tomorrow. Lots of rules obviously but the process isnt too difficult.
