Just Said Yes October 2022

Mid September or Late October Wedding

Hi All!

My fiancé and I have picked our venue at last in Maryland. The problem is that the venue only has Sept. 17 2022 or October 29 2022. We are not having an outdoor ceremony since it will be in a church.
We are seriously stuck because we would love the fall foliage but it gets dark earlier and want our guests to enjoy the views of our venue. At the same time, we don’t want it to be too hot for our guests in September , but also fear that late October will be too cold.
Help!!

I think for Maryland I’d choose September. If you google historical weather you can see weather in the location on the exact date for the last 5+ years. That helped me feel more comfortable about my date.

In September it will be hotter but if you have an evening wedding it will be cooler at night. You said everything is in doors so I wouldn’t worry about the weather too much.

I would go with the October date. You said that you would love to have Fall foliage, and there definitely won’t be any in September. Plus, you said everything will be indoors, so the weather really isn’t a factor.

Are most of your guests local to Maryland? Or other areas where it gets cold? If so, I would go with October because I’m sure most would prefer the evening to get dark sooner versus being hot? Also, October seems like it would bring you the fall foliage that you want. However, what views of your venue will your guests miss by it getting dark?

I'm in Maryland as well and October would definitely give you a better fall foliage. Yes it gets darker at night, but it would be the same thing for that September date as well. & October isn't THAT cold in Maryland

Thank you guys for the advice! We have a tentative date for 10/29 but want to make absolutely sure.

Sexy poodle, I wouldn’t want them to miss the venue itself with the stone structures and the beautiful Oregon Ridge backdrop in the fall!
Our ceremony at the church will be at 130 pm, and it will be a short ceremony, but I don’t know when I would like the cocktail hour to be…. We’re thinking 4-5pm then dinner at 5-9pm. What you guys think?!
