Microdermabrasion before wedding?

SoonToBeMrsS., on April 11, 2017 at 10:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

So I got a text from some girl tonight that my best friend gifted me a pampering package through Mary Kay. It includes a deep pores cleanse, microdermabrasion and a lip treatment. Should I do this before the wedding? Im kind of hesitant on it. Im a licensed cosmetologist so I'm trained in skin care but don't do anything like that in the salon. Idk if I trust some random Mary Kay consultant to mess with my skin a month before the wedding. From What I remember mocroderm is pretty intensive on the skin. But then I will feel bad my friend bought this gift for me and wasted her money if I don't use it. Anyone had this done before?

Do you know this person that texted you? I got the same thing, in email form. And it was 100% a scam. A gimmick to get you to buy Mary Kay products.

I got the same thing in an email today! I would be careful.

I don't know the girl personally but my friend invited me to a Mary Kay party she hosted at her house tonight but I had to work so I couldn't make it. Eta: I know it's not a scam. She literally just had the party tonight.

I get microdermabrasion and glycolic peels on a monthly basis. I asked my esthetician and she said 7 days before should be enough time to heal.

I didn't know Mary Kay did microdermabrasion though. That would concern me.

@ coffee that's how I feel. I don't trust non professionals with that kind of thing. Being a pro myself I'm extract hesitant. I don't do microderm and I've never had it done so idk. I know where I live you have to be licensed to perform services like that on people. I don't want to be rude and deny the gift but uh no. Lol

It's just a Mary Kay party or product sample. Nothing salon or dr office quality. I believe I've tried it a Mary Kay party and it's just a scrubby wash with some peel type ingredients

It's a scam! They tell you to invite your bridesmaids and I did, and it ended up being a Mary Kay sales pitch. They tell you you're getting a microdermabrasion treatment when really all it is is an exfoliator in a bottle that they call "microdermabrasion". I was so annoyed. They even made every one of us sit down with them individually to ask you to buy the products or pay to become a consultant. Ummm neither!?

I know you said you feel bad about your friend buying you the gift and you not using it. Here are my thoughts: 1) your friend should have given the gift, not had the Mary Kay girl communicate the gift to you. 2) A gift is given without strings. The gifter doesn't know what the giftee will do once it's been given. 3) If it's really just an exfoliator mask see if you can redeem the gift after the wedding.

I am a Mary Kay consultant and my mom is a Director. It is not a gimmick to get you to buy anything. We just offer different things to different people. The microdermabrasion is amazing. It's not a scam. We just try to pamper as many women as we can, and yes in the hopes that they will be a customer or join our Mary Kay team, but you don't have to.

The one and only time I had microdermabrasion I was 17 years old and the spa where I had it done told me it would help with my acne. I had the absolute WORST acne of my entire life for the next three weeks. I would definitely not risk it.

It's not actually a gift, or a microdermabrasion. Your friend probably went to a makeup sampling and at the end they ask you for to give them some of your friend's numbers.
