Micro Wedding Venue help?

David, on June 24, 2020 at 5:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
My Fiancé and I have finally settled on a micro wedding over eloping. We are having some issues finding venues for very small weddings. There's 10 total people who will share the day with us.

Does anyone have experience with this size wedding, any tips you can share? We'd prefer to pay one fee and have everything inclusive if possible. Budget is 7,500-10,000.
Thank you in advance.

We had 7 guests in an outdoor garden ceremony for $250. Our catering was from a soul food restaurant for $360. And alcohol was $100. DIY a bouquet from two small red rose bouquets from Walmart for $10. The budget you have set is completely do-able

We rented an Airbnb for lodging, getting ready and the ceremony. We’re having a dinner reception afterwards at a cafe/bakery.

We chose the Airbnb because a lot of “Wedding Venues” Would not accommodate a smaller wedding. They may now in light of Covid.

If you go the AirBNB route, message the hosts to make sure they are okay with it.

Depending on where you are and where you're willing to travel (if need be), you can also look into Simply Eloped. They offer many different locations (all outside) in a handful of different states and you can have up to 20-40 guests so your 10 would be perfect. They have a few different packages you can choose from and then you can just go to a restaurant or something nearby for lunch/dinner afterward.

Check Simply Eloped or Pop the Know as both offer those too. Also, check bed & breakfasts in your area. We came across one about 45 minutes away and they will have a room for me to get ready as well as a lovely, private place. Ask about elopement special and check with hotels too. In fact check now as I know in my area many places due to COVID are offering intimate pkgs for some pretty good deals. With the venue see if they allow outside catering for you all to eat or set up a reservation at a local restaurant.

We just had ours at a VRBO, about 1200 for 2 nights. It was a little more pricey since it has beach access and a view of Seattle's skyline.

We spent about $7000 total; it was just us and my stepdaughter though. But there are tons of ways to save $ if you're willing to be creative!

We pretty much did the same, we reserved an AirBNB for 3 nights and our parents will be able to stay there too!

I appreciate everyone's comments, please keep them coming. I love the AirBnB idea, and I found one I like and they'd allow a wedding. Just have to get my fiancees blessing. 1500 for 2 nights, huge yard overlooking white mountains in NH.

How did you all find officiants for these type wedding you had?

My priest from my Sangha is officiating, but I’m sure you could also look into hiring somebody if you don’t know someone personally...or have someone you know personally to get ordained Smiley smile

This is what we did as well. We wanted space for 20 people total (we are now at 8 - thank you COVID). I searched "micro-wedding", "elope", and other similar terms in conjunction with my state. I found some of the micro-wedding websites were fairly expensive. I also searched hotels in my area and reached out to a few for information on their wedding packages. I ended up stumbling upon a lovely venue that had several packages from 40-200 people, I asked them about smaller options and they actually had an unlisted "elopement" package for up to 22 people. They offered it to me half price during the week (M-F). For a beautiful historic venue including ceremony room, dinner space, full bar, plated dinner (they have a four-diamond restaurant within the venue), a day of coordinator and cake - we are looking at 1,250-1,300 total. I live near Denver so this is sort of unheard of I'm finding! Definitely really dig around and don't be afraid to ask places if they offer micro/elopement/mini packages or would consider them. Smiley smile

Ours was a micro DW in Hawaii right before COVID. My little sister was supposed to come, so it ended up being 9 people total. We did a ceremony package, which came with a musician, officiant (who was also the planner), photographer and videographer. The officiant was super accommodating and would talk through any questions we had. He recommended places where I could get my bouquet and hair salons near our hotel. It was definitely the way to go because I felt like I could cross off many vendors off of my list since he was there to help out!

Thank you all so much. I did go with the AirBnB log cabin except for 3 nights. I found and booked officiant too.

Any tips on photography/ videography for a wedding of this size?

We still had our photographer for the full day to take pics of us getting ready, first look, photos with friends, individuals etc. Really up to you!
