Mexico Wedding 04/17/20

Kim, on March 17, 2020 at 12:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
My fiancé and I have our wedding booked in Cancun for 04/17/20. We are located in the states. All 50 guests are flying in primarily from the northeast (only two are above the age of 65).

Our coordinator has not yet told us we should postpone and we really don’t want to unless we are forced!
Mexico hasn’t seen many cases, none in the Cancun area actually. Is anyone else in the same boat as us? Any free advice or recommendations?

It seems pretty ill-advised to fly 50 people from a region with a rising number of cases to a region with fewer cases.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mexico closed their borders to the US soon. I would look into postponing.

I would also suggest postponing. Flying anywhere in the next month is highly advised against.

Even if you are able to fly down, you might not be permitted to fly back. Plus, there's the health concerns Cardioqueen mentioned that you could be carrying a virus to an uninfected area, which is problematic in and of itself. I would postpone even if you aren't forced to. Our Plan B (if the court house is open and our wedding is postponed) is to get married privately on our chosen wedding day by someone who got ordained online. Would you be interested in a compromise like that? Then you can fly out at a later date for a celebration with your family when it's safer?
