Men's Wearhouse experiences?

Summer, on May 15, 2018 at 4:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

FH is trying to decide whether to go to the local tux shop that seems like it'll be a little bit more costly than MW but which he would prefer, not being one for big chains. However we're having trouble getting an appointment at the local place and I think there are some major benefits to MW i.e. convenience-wise, so we're considering just going there. I have heard that they're not the best with the actual fittings.

Anyone whose had a positive or negative experience there I'd love to hear about it!

I'd look into Black Tux too. I think that's who we will use. First off, he can do a "try on" rental for free on any random Tuesday for 48 hours to see if he likes the style and fit and service from the company. Then you just order the suits online, add your groomsmen's names and emails and they do the same. Then it gets delivered 2 weeks in advance, so they have time to try it on and send back whatever doesn't fit or needs to be changed. They have lots of options for tuxedos, suits, and individual pieces in slim and normal fit.

You are right it is super convenient and can accomodate GM who are spread out locale-wise.

There are other national chains that are dependable ( according to our member reviews! Smiley winking ) and can give you a solid level of customer service.

    Check this one out

FH went to men’s warehouse and purchased a custom made suit for $425 ( it is difficult to find things in his size sometimes). It fits great and looks very nice no appointment needed we just walked in and they assisted us. It did take about 5 weeks though. I’m not sure how rentals work but also always have coupons on their website.

We will be using Men's Wearhouse. Unfortunately, FH hasn't been fitted, so I can't help you there, but we had great service when we visited and selected the "looks". The online customer service has been great as well. We were quoted one price during our visit, but charged more when I logged into our event account. Turns out the gentleman who helped us, got the pricing wrong, but they reduced the price to what we were originally quoted.

We also tried The Black Tux and didn't like it at all. We made an appointment and they were completely unprepared (didn't have us in their system) and I swear the woman who helped us had never worked a day in her life in retail. They also had very few options that FH even liked.

    Good luck!

I equate MW to DB in terms of reliability. Some stores are better than others. Our middle daughter (July wedding) did their tux rentals through MW and my DH has been fitted for his already. We were told by our daughter to keep a photo of the order form (for measurements) and to go in a few days early to pick it up just in case there are issues. We will do all we can on our end to be proactive in making sure everything is right.

We had the WORST experience with men's wearhouse where 5 out of 6 people who rented tuexedos all were measured incorrectly. My husband who was the groom looked ridiculous as his sleeves were way too short and the tux was late arriving so it came in Friday afternoon for a Saturday early afternoon wedding so when he picked it up and tried it on the day before our wedding it didn't fit as the sleeves were way too long and covered his whole hands so they said they would alter it that night and would be ready when they open Saturday morning. When my husband went in to pick it up the day of our wedding it was way too short and at that point they didn't have time to fix it again since our wedding started in an hour and a half and they couldn't promise it would be ready in time to make it to the ceremony early for pictures etc. we complained after the wedding and they only gave 50 dollars off each rental so 300 dollars in total but my husband who was the groom only got 50 dollars after that whole ordeal and now our wedding pictures at the ceremony look so ridiculous with his 3/4 sleeve jacket. During the break between the ceremony and reception he then went home to get a black sportcoat he had which even though it didn't match and wasn't a tux jacket it still looked better than his 3/4 sleeves!! So from my experience I would advise NOT to use men's wearhouse as I've never seen such horrible alterations in my life! See photos to see how bad it really looked!! Ugh I'm still so mad about it!!

We used Men's Wearhouse and we had no issues. My H is a jeans and a T shirt guy and typically gets uncomfortable in nice clothes. He said the suit he rented was the best fitted suit he's ever worn. We also had some GMs leave pieces of their Tux in our hotel room (that's where the GMs got ready on the day). We just dropped them off with H's tux and they said they'd take care of it if anyone returned something that was missing. IT was also easier for our GMs because there are so many locations. Overall, a good experience.

We had an absolutely horrible experience at Men’s Warehouse here, and will be using Generation Tux, or purchasing his suit elsewhere. We’re undecided on renting vs buying,

Oh wow! That's awful! I hope you can look past the sleeves in a few years, because you both look so happy to be getting married, I hope the happy feelings are what lasts! I can't believe they only gave you $50 off each rental, that does not seem like fair compensation for the stress they caused you!

We went with Savvi Formalwear because of our horrible experience with Men's Wearhouse. The customer service was horrific.

Awful men’s warehouse experience at 2 different locations. i’ve never heard of a fee to try on a tux- makes no sense to me as i didn’t pay a fee to try on tons of dresses. we ended up going to Jos A banks and loved it

We had a terrible experience at men’s warehouse. When we arrived, we were told my FH wasn’t able to try on any of the coats to see what would look good on him, he was consistently told he wouldn’t fit into a slim fit whenever he would show the employee a color suit he liked, told us we should choose black instead of navy because it’s more popular even though we wanted navy, and then told us to come back in May to look for suits when our wedding is in June. We went to Jos A bank and they were wonderful! Worked with us, helped us find suits that matched that we liked, and were very respectful.

We had an appalling MW experience at one location and a mostly acceptable experience at another. At the first place, H come home convinced that the guy who was "helping" him was sick, high, or both. I'm glad I called later that day to double check, because the guy had set up our order with a missing groomsmen, no tux for my bridesman, and TWO grooms! We called the other location and they fixed our order and transferred it to their store. On the day of, there were a few issues, including a missing item (pocket square) for one groomsman, but my dad drove home and scrounged up a handkerchief for the guy and it looked ok in the end.

If we had it to do over again we would definitely not use MW.

We had a horrible experience with MW. Went in to get tuxedos and we were treated horribly and ignored for
over an hour. I complained and things got worse. We left went to a bridal
show, passed their booth, and began speaking fltina guy and I explained the situation. He informed me that he was the district mgr and he wanted me to make an appt and come back. He said he would contact the store and all would be great. Well me made they appt, showed up, got the same person. She was rude, short, and basically acted like we were a bother. Needless to say we didn’t get tuxedos their. Also, my SIL was in another wedding and paid over $380 for his tux rental. For my youngest daughters wedding we would have spent almost $400 for the tuxedo rental however we found a mom and pop store, who has been in business for over 30 years, and our rental price is only $100 including taxes.

I went to Men’s Wearhouse & aren’t using them. Me & my FH didn’t like the suit selection as much as we did other stores. It wasn’t bad just not what we were interested color wise, we ended up going with VIP Tux which is a chain with 6 stores in NC. We do have 2 groomsmen that aren’t in the state (VA & SC) that we were concerned about but they didn’t have a problem with driving to a store. Luckily my dad in DC already got his out the way. I would just suggest to shop around before choosing.

My FH went to Men's Warehouse, he did not make an appointment and they helped him find what he needed. He said they had excellent customer service. They offered a wedding party deal for all of the men in our wedding party, 40% off if you only got individual items and 60% off if you get the whole suit. He got a $680 suit for $450, including shoes, shirt, and tie. This included alterations and they said that any future alterations would also be covered.

My FH has groomsman all over the state/country, so we are going with mens warehouse just for the convenience of everyone getting to go in and get fitted at the store nearest them!

We are doing MW and when my FH and my dad got fitted it was a great experience... the lady walked me and my FH through all the options and didn’t try to upsell anything... they have the same colors as David’s so easy to match the dresses if you went that route
