Memorial Weekend Wedding

Aeriel, on September 9, 2019 at 3:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
We have booked our venue for Memorial Day Weekend, we have the option of having the reception Saturday or Sunday. I’m torn between days. Saturday would be nice because then we could have time Sunday to relax and enjoy the venue and spend time with guests who may there during the day or would be staying another night. Sunday provides some more travel time for guests, but would mean the majority of the Venue would be set up for the wedding Saturday cutting down on the space we would have available to enjoy with guests arriving Saturday or for the rehearsal dinner. What would you do?

That's a beautiful venue. I would opt for Sunday. Less rushed.

I think I would still keep it on a Saturday. This gives those that may not get that Monday off time to celebrate with you. For those that can stay through Monday, you have an extra day to spend without the stress of last minute details. Your venue is gorgeous, btw.

We had a similar option having a labor day weekend wedding. Ultimately we decided on traditional saturday and allowing guests more travel time (monday) when leaving.

Do you have a lot traveling in that are in the wedding? Most of our guests IN the wedding are local and don't need extra travel time for rehearsal dinner.

Also, what other vendors are you looking at outside of the venue. Do they provide discounts for sunday weddings opposed to saturday?

Not everyone gets memorial day off, so I'd go for Saturday. That typically works for everyone since it's the most popular day for weddings.

Do you have a lot of guests traveling for the wedding? If so I would go with Saturday. We went to a Memorial Day weekend wedding last year and flew home Sunday because it would’ve been several hundred dollars more to fly home on Monday.

Wow what a gorgeous venue. I would say Saturday because not everyone had holidays off. Unless you know all of your guests are off then I would stick with Saturday.
