May wedding colors in Chicago

Andrea, on August 23, 2019 at 2:14 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7
I am having the hardest time deciding on my wedding colors. I still have time so it hasn’t hindered planning yet, but it’s getting down to the wire.
May 2nd in Chicago will probably be 60ish degrees so definitely not warm spring but not winter cold.
I originally wanted shades of blue when we were getting married in March and it would definitely be cold. Now that it’s in spring, I’m between blush, lavender, still into the blues. I just don’t know, and it feels like such a huge decision!!
How did you guys decide on your colors??
Another concern is that out of my 4 bridesmaids 1 will probably be very pregnant and another will have just given birth a few months earlier. I want my girls to be comfortable in their dresses so I was thinking of a more forgiving shade then a light pastel, such as navy. I can’t discuss it with them because I haven’t asked them yet! (Only my maid of honor and she will wear anything)
Any suggestions are very much appreciated!

All those colors sounds perfect for spring! Do you know where you want to get your bridesmaids dresses? Look at their swatches, different store may have a little different color than what you are thinking. I would order some swatches and see what you like best and chose that way if you are pretty open.

I'm always in the camp of "colors don't have to be dictated by seasons!"
We had plum, crimson, and grey as our colors for a may wedding. You could still do the shades of blue if ypu really love it

My colors for a June Chicago wedding is Navy blue, burgundy and gold accents. My favorite color is blue and his favorite color is red so we came to a consensus on these colors so it's like we both have what we like. I think shades of blue and grey would be great.

Do you have a favorite flower in mind that you want in the bouquets? I know it sounds crazy but I had a particular flower I wanted and I went from there to find a color that would balance that out and that’s how I chose the color my daughter wore in my wedding . If your groomsman wear gray there are so many options for the ladies.

I didn't pick my colors based on the season. I picked my favorite colors--to hell with the season. So, I'm getting married May 30, which is late spring, but my colors are purple, black and silver, with a tiny bit of white thrown in. Not exactly "spring" colors. But I don't care. I wanted my favorite colors represented no matter what.

Blush and blue sounds pretty! We chose our colors based on what FH and I liked. It was bonus that they went well with our holiday theme

Thank you so much ladies!! Blue is mine and my fiancé’s favorite color so you’re all so right, I’m gonna go with our favorites instead of worrying about the season. My engagement ring even has sapphire accents so definitely the right color choice! Thanks!!
