May wedding cancelation?

Kayleigh, on April 6, 2020 at 2:10 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 8
My wedding is supposed to be May 30th of 2020. Since everything has happened I have paused everything. I have even held back sending my invites. I’m considering just having a very small intimate ceremony and then later on once this calms down re-do our ceremony and have reception! What are all the other May brides doing???

My wedding was supposed to be May 30th as well. There’s so many different options that we are consider. We know that we won’t be able to go with what was originally planned (~250 ppl).
Plan A would be to have a small ceremony with just parents, grandparents, & siblings. This would be if things were starting to look better by May 30th. And then like you said do a vow renewal & reception when things are back to normal.
Plan B would be to elope with just our parents. And of course have the renewal & reception later on. But then I’m second guessing these things and wondering if we should just fully postpone. That would put our lives on hold for a whole year so I really don’t want to do that. I’m really unsure of everything. Thanks for making this post so that we can get ideas from people going through the same thing!

Moved ours from 5/24 to 7/25 (and still worried about that date now!!) 2+ weeks ago. I'd highly suggest moving it ASAP. It is so frustrating, sad, etc. but hopefully you at least get to have it in 2020....the dates are all being snapped up. Best of luck!

I thankfully do not have to worry about my venue date as it is privately owned by our family friends. I truly though do not want to change it. I’m strongly looking at getting married with a small limited number of guests

Lucky you! Then I think a smaller wedding is a good idea. Since you don't have to worry about the venue, maybe wait until 5/1 to decide on the exact size so you can (hopefully) include as many folks as possible. Best of luck to you!

We’re May 17 and we’re kinda in limbo our venue said we can move forward and they are willing to work with us through whatever we choose and so are our vendors so we’re just waiting till May 3 to find out what we can do. We still want to elope on our date even if we have to postpone. Any May brides get their marriage license before all this chaos?

Ours was also May 30th, with a guest list of 250. We postponed to July 18th but honestly i'm not feeling overly confident about that date either, but I was panicking and took the only available date that worked for us and our wedding party. I really hope things are back to normal by July but its so hard to say. If they aren't, we are going to have a very small and intimate ceremony, get married and then postpone our reception again.

Best of luck to all of you on this post! It is a very difficult decision to postpone something we have been waiting so long for.

We are May 2. It's at our church so it's all up in the air right now. If necessary we can have it at a family member's house with just us and our kids and grandkids. It's not either of our first marriages so we didn't have a huge wedding planned anyway and the wedding party consisted of kids and grandkids so other than not having any guests there won't be much difference. We are sticking to the date regardless.

My wedding was supposed to be May 23, and don't want to push too far on looking for a backup date, we are really hopping to get married this year and not have to wait too long. We are between August 14 or September 4. I am just trying to breath and take one step at a time, best wishes to all brides that are having to go through this!
