May Brides - canceling wedding/honeymoon?

Sb, on March 17, 2020 at 9:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hey ladies! I’m scheduled to get married on May 15th in Texas and head to Central America for our honeymoon on the 17th. I’m trying to tell myself to continue on. As of yesterday, our venue said they will still be operating, but I just don’t know what to do ... If I should reschedule everything or just continue on. Trying so hard not to stress out, but this has been so upsetting!

Hello! May 16th in Maine for us. As of now, we are a go and simultaneously a wait & see. I go back and forth between major anxiety and "what will be will be" by the minute! The CDC recommendation makes us good to go by 1 day, sooooo….. My biggest concern in postponing or cancelling is not know what will happen down the road. What if we postpone a year and then something else crazy happens in the world. Sigh. It is very stressful!!! Big hug to you! In the midst of it all I hope you can find something to relieve your stress if only for a few moments.

My wedding was may 30, 2020 and we cancelled yesterday due to trumps speech about things not getting better till July/August. We didn’t pick another date yet for our wedding, but we are thinking sometime next year because this pandemic could last longer than expected. July/August is the best case scenario if everyone’s contributes to social distancing in the nation. So I would recommend canceling and not picking another date just yet. We are all being inconvenienced: businesses, weddings, everything. But we have to be inconvenienced if we want our nation to get better by social distancing.

May 17 bride here and so far our venue is allowing us to move forward with the day. We’re taking it day by day but we had to cancel our honeymoon in Italy 😔 I’d probably cancel the honeymoon if I were you because they aren’t going to let anyone travel internationally anyways it’s best to get a refund or a voucher if you can!

My wedding is the same day as yours and also in Texas! Right now we’re waiting a few weeks to see what happens, because 1) we think it’ll be easier to negotiate existing contracts if/when the CDC recommendation is extended further out or Texas bans large gatherings for that time period, 2) we’re not sure when this will all blow over, and 3) we haven’t decided on our Plan B (have the ceremony with just immediate family present and postpone the reception, reschedule everything, or scrap the reception entirely). Our honeymoon is supposed to be in Italy as well but we’re also waiting to cancel/postpone that until we’re guaranteed refunds on everything (due to restrictions being extended to cover that time period). Best of luck everyone, it reassures me that I’m not the only one going through this!
