May 8 2020 Brides! Date twins, help i'm panicking

Stephanie, on January 2, 2020 at 11:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Now that the year is here and my wedding date is practically four months away, I'm starting to panic that I am no where near done yet! I know some brides plan years in advance and other brides can pull it together in a few months! Date twins! Where are you guys at in the planning process? Anyone have destination weddings? Has the reality of it all set for any of you as the ball dropped into 2020?

Signed,

Holy moly this is getting real. hahaha

I'm may 9th 2020 the day after! So far we have the photographer paid, dj paid, still owe $1800 on the venue, I have my dress. We still dont have: his suit, wedding favors, alterations on my dress, my shoes, etc. Makes me a little stressed because I feel like theres so much left to do! Tomorrow we are going to look at wedding bands for him!

We're March 21st and honestly I'm starting to freak out lol.

FH and the guys JUST got their suit appointments so they pick them up 2 days before the wedding.

Otherwise we're just working on paying everything off! All of our ducks are in a row and scheduled - just have to make a few final decisions, but all in all we're sitting good!

I have my next alterations appointment on the 13th, then I'm having a spa day on the 27th with my step mom. I'm soooo ready for it so I can just disconnect and hopefully come back to wedding planning recharged lol.

So many times already I've sat down and gone "holy smokes we're getting married this year. We're getting married in 2.5 months!!!" haha.

One of my bridesmaids is doing my hair and make-up, she's really talented with hair! We have had several hiccups along the way making us start from scratch about a week ago! I in the same boat! We have got this.... I also started freaking out the new year def, made it more real!

I'm May 3rd and I feel like there's so much to do! Actually I just started panicking a little bit thinking about it. We have to pick out his suit/tie combo for all the guys, do my dress fittings, order bus transportation from venue to hotel, pay off a $hit ton of contracts, book our hotel for wedding night, buy flights for bachelorette, finish planning our honeymoon, get all of our invitations from invitation designer and send them out, buy our wedding bands, get gifts for our bridal parties...GAHHH! So much to do!! We will get through this though! Smiley ring Smiley cake

As long as you have your major vendors booked (venue, catering, photography, officiant, DJ, and a dress) at this point I really wouldn't worry! That's about all we had at this point last year, though we didn't get a DJ at all (and I got married early June last year). We had ordered our invitations too (only because I got them early on sale lol) but doesn't matter if you don't, because you still have at least a month or two before you should send them out anyway. We did our cake tasting in late January. My husband didn't pick out his tux until April. Got our rings around April too. Didn't book our videographer until 6 weeks before the wedding. I didn't order my flowers until 2 weeks before the wedding (lol THAT one was a mistake with cutting it close, but hey, it worked out just fine!)

What have you done, and what are you worried you still have to do? You've still got plenty of time!

That’s good to hear Gen! Elisa I’m in a similar boat! May 2nd, 2020 is our date and all we’ve done so far is secure venue (bc it’s our backyard) bought dress, paid photographer, and designed invitations. Still have to order / send invitations last week in Feb. Help bridesmaids get dresses (they are family), catering, bartender, decide on flowers, find hair / makeup, secure DJ, marriage license, make sure the guys get suits, get wedding bands. But we still have at least 15 weeks. So I know it will all come together!

    April 5

The only thing that is freaking me out is the $$$

I've got venue, caterer, flowers, dj, dress, makeup, hair, ceremony pianist, and photographer all nailed down, and invitations on order. I just pray everything goes according to plan!

The venue is half paid, flowers half, paid, caterer got a 2k deposit, invitations paid, dress paid, but alterations still to be done, photographer got a deposit, as did the pianist. The DJ is a friend of my brother so he hasn't asked for a deposit but is charging half what he normally charges for weddings. Same for makeup and hair - friends of sister-in-law's friends type thing, also giving me very reasonable price including a trial.

Still have to get wedding bands but I'm pretty sure I know what I want.

He may get a new suit, tbd. I kinda want him in a navy, lol

My biggest worry, actually, is future MIL

May 16th here Smiley smile Not date twins, but close! We did a long engagement (20~ months) to give ourselves more time to plan. Well...that amounted to nothing because none of the fine details have come together yet (just our bigger vendors)! We reached out to a vendor who will be making favors, haven't planned our flowers, haven't gotten or even planned out our center pieces, have no idea what my hair or makeup should look like, have no jewelry yet, and what the heck am I getting my bridesmaids?!

So, yeah, freaking out...but we got this!! Just take it one step at a time. One thing that has helped is to make a "do soon/important" category at the top of my to-do list, then I coded things from there that are either "high", "medium", or "low" importance/urgency. That's pretty much been my life since the new year. Lots to do, but at least I have clarity on what's needed and when I will need to do it by!

You will have a lovely wedding Smiley heart May is the best month to get married, after all lol!
