FH and I just got engaged and with COVID still an issue, we’ve decided to have a fairly short timeline as it will be a small event. We’ve been lucky enough to have a venue in our neighborhood clubhouse (a gorgeous ballroom!) but still not sure where to go from here. Well most likely have no more than 50 guests and employ local vendors but it’s all so crazy.

My event is in Melrose Park, Illinois. I have been getting quotes for $1500-$2500 for video and photos. And my venue is only $1400 for 150 guest.
The lowest quote for just photography was 5K. We live in NYC, however, so understandable. I'm having a difficult time relating to a lot of the DIY brides, LOL.
I honestly don’t i must confess, but i will say I think people might be a little more comfortable I feel like they already are, I’m not as much but i am lowering my number of guests on purpose. I’m also having my guests use masks and will have had sanitizer available, I feel that would be wise but the biggest thing for me is lowering the amount of guests
the venue was $10,000 for 80 guests (no food or beverage included) and the photographer was $6000 and video was $7000.
It was a beautiful space and any Maui brides that are interested in hearing about it, I would highly recommend!!
Covid had us shift everything... including the year haha
Now we are will be in California, and the venue is an amount I will not disclose, but the photography team is only $3500!!! and they are incredible!!! ... although many photographers here are $6000.
So both locations the venue is more than the photography team I am not certain what kind of venue you are searching for, but these are both private estates, indoor / outdoor spaces, where our party gets the whole lay of the land for the whole day.
Well worth it when you want to dance the night away... maybe even watch the sunrise!!! ;-)

I agree with you....we had 75 or less already planned so for us its a no brainer. The only thing we have to consider is the bridal party 95% are from other countries and flying so that we may have to consider reducing as well if needed.
Any brides here getting married May 05,2021? I am getting married In Honolulu Hawaii. I am so scared Covid is going to ruin everything but I’m trying so hard to be positive. We got amazing prices on everything due to Covid and the shut downs. Our venue with everything included is about $10,000. And our photo and video package is $3,500. I’m feeling really good about the prices especially for the location! I hope all you brides have the weddings of your dreams and nothing ruins your special day!!
So far so good, we will not be postponing our wedding. We will be getting married May 4, 2021 and have invited all of our close family and friends since we really can't have a big group because of Covid. Maybe a few years down the road we can have a bigger reception or something, but as for now we will make it work.
I’m currently booked for May 2021 with a 150 person guest list. At this point, I don’t think that we will be able to have the full list and I’m actually leaning toward cutting it down. We had our menu tasting a few weeks ago, and our venue coordinator told us that if things are still at limited capacity, she’d be comfortable with us doing a 50-60 person guest list based on the size of the venue. My fiancé and I basically pared our list down to immediate family (parents, siblings, plus their SOs/kids), and the wedding party (plus their SOs/kids) and that brings us basically to our 50 person mark. Waiting until around March to make the final call, but if we do cut it down, we’ll send notes to everyone with a link for where to stream the ceremony so that anyone who wants to see it still can.
Had a wave of cautious optimism hit me this week with the updates on a potential vaccine and antibody treatment making positive progress. Fingers crossed that by May there will be enough things in place for fewer restrictions and more comfort for guests 🤞🏻 Though I definitely don’t think we’ll be completely out of the woods.

Kind of a side note: you had your tasting for a wedding six months away? Our venue will not do that until four weeks ahead to decide on what is in season, so the menu matches the weather.

I’ll also add that our venue is a rural family-run country club, that I believe limits wedding events to a maximum of one per weekend... so having a smaller venue like that might be why there’s more flexibility compared to a larger venue with higher wedding traffic.
