May 1st wedding - postpone or not?

Grecia, on March 17, 2020 at 2:37 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9
Hello all, I’m hoping some of y’all can share some of your thoughts and plans for either same date as mine or close to it.. I just got off the phone with our venue and they told me they would work with us as much as they could, but I just don’t know what to do.. most of our guests are out of town and haven’t had any cancellations from guests but the thought is there..

Anyone else?

The CDC and White House have recommended that everyone should take precautions not to be in groups of ten or more for the next 8 weeks. I would start calling your vendors ASAP about postponing to a later date, especially with guests coming from out of town. President Trump said yesterday that they are hoping this will all be over by July or August if everyone follows precautions.

Our wedding was 4/25 and we are postponing until 09/05 it seems like the best decision at this point. It honestly breaks my heart though.

Ok right here in the article in regards to yesterday's address it says "could" go till July or August.

Figured I would post 2 articles just to be safe. But considering that your wedding is in May I would start postponing because that is in the initial 8 week guideline given.

My wedding was May 9, we've cancelled our venue and we are getting a full refund. Also refunds on flowers as well. However things like the limo, the event planning that we put down payments on, we are not being refunded. So we are still getting married, no longer a big wedding at our place of worship, but something small at my fiance's house with a few family members of his...mine are not in the same city, so we will video them in. I am going to wear my dress because really, it was for my fiance, to see his eyes light up. Later when this coronavirus blows over, hopefully some time this year, we will have our reception at the same venue. The only difference will be that we will be married by that point. So it will be a celebration nof our love with my bridesmaids and his groomsmen. The whole works. Of course, this wasn't what I expected, so naturally we are disappointed. But hopefully life goes on, with the man if my dreams and I'll get the reception of my dreams...and honeymoon. We were going to Cancun Mexico. We're still going...just not when we expected. I wish you well. Smiley smile

Unfortunately, YES you should absolutely postpone. Our only hope of
beating this virus is if we follow the CDC guidelines. No gatherings of
more than 10 people for the next 8 weeks. I'm so sorry Smiley sad

Thank you all for all the input. We decided to
Postpone and it’s been difficult but it’s the right thing to do.
