Marrying With Children

If you have children, would you want your children's biological father to sign over his parental rights to the stepfather? Why or why not? If you do not have children, would you marry someone who has children? Why or why not?

We don't have a relationship. His daughter lives with her and we only get to see her once or twice a year. His daughter is 9 now and will probably never live with us so its not a typical divorced parents situation.

My FH and I have 2 children, our 10 month old daughter who we share and a 7 yr old son from my previous marriage. My FH claims my son as his. My son calls him dad. We are hoping that my ex will sign over his rights so that my FH can adopt my son( as long as my son is okay with it). To clarify, my ex took off when my son was 2 and he hasn't seen him since. The last time he spoke to him was my son's first day of kindergarten, he is now a 2nd grader. He doesn't pay child support or help in any way. We even have my ex's family's support on this. For us it would be a great thing. My son is aware he has another dad but he rarely talks about him and usually gets sad thinking about him.

I can understand why you would want him to sign over his rights.
