Married ladies - your nails

We'llAlwaysHaveParis, on June 7, 2013 at 3:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

If you had your nails done in a color, can I see pictures? I want dark purple, but I don't want them to be what the eye notices first in my wedding pictures.

I am going to make sure they're short, fingertip length.

Sorry I don't have a color, but I did pink smoothies from gelish. The ring finger had a white lacey flower. :-)

My colors were burgundy and pink. For MONTHS I had planned on doing my nails burgundy. Right before the wedding one of my friends talked me out it for that very reason. She said the eyes would go straight to my "red" nails. So I went with boring french manicure.

Really, who cares if people notice your nail color. Isn't that kind of the point of choosing a COLOR? lol If you want purple nails Paris, you go for it!

I can't do a french manicure. To me if feels so 2005 because that's what I had at my last wedding.

I know it's CLASSIC, not 2005, but it's just one of those things I don't want to repeat.

A million years ago, I did brown nails for prom (my dress was brown). A picture recently surfaced on Facebook, and someone commented along the lines of "I never realized you were Goth". Moral of the story: sometimes dark nails show up as black in pictures. If you do go with purple, I'd try to find one with more pinkish undertones, b/c a dark grape purple will probably show up black :/

This is not helpful at all and you probably (like me) could care less about his opinion, BUT David Tuttera was a guest on a local radio show here not too long ago and he was ranting about how much he HATES colored nails on brides.

He would have probably posted that in your other thread, haha!

Maybe a light pink would be a better option. still some color, but not so obvious (if that's the word I want?)

I'm not married, but I had dark purple nails when I went dress shopping. They were really pretty in person but looked awful in pictures. Definitely drew the eye and looked black. Sorry! Could you try a pale pink if you want something inconspicuous? I wear Essie "Vanity Fairest" constantly.

Below were my inspiration pics- I did the one on the right as is- white with silver glitter. you could do something like that with a purple glitter. then it is a little more subtle. The one of the left was my other idea, but it didnt go with my wedding feel- but you could easily do the tip in color or some sort of design in a color. My sister and bridesmaids did a design- white french tip with an aqua design painted on underneath. It was cool looking but not overwhelming like omg they all have turquoise nails!

I debated about the dark nails, too, for the same reason. I wear dark colors a lot, but didn't want it to be so noticeable against my white gown. I opted for a French manicure, since it's been years since I'd gotten one, jazzed up with a hairline thin stripe of glittery teal just below the white tip. It looked OK. If I had to do it over, I would have done the teal on the tip, similar to Jamie's first picture.

Haha I doubt there are photos of my nails on there! I loved them though- they were so shiny and fancy looking lol. I found a picture of my sister's nails- see below. Just something different to use the color. And if you go to someone good, they should be able to do anything. I'm a glitter girl myself so I loved the simplicity of just white and some glitter on the bottom Smiley smile

These were my bridal nails.. I wanted something other than a French tip.. It's not dark but the nail polish was by Orly and it's called "kiss the bride"..which I thought was cute and a nice pink color.

I kind of wanted dark purple as well (OPIs Lincoln Park After Dark is my FAVE!) but everyone tells me that's a bad idea.

And then I though red because well, they just look good red - but my wedding colors are dark and light purple and orange.

So, I may need to do a pale pink or french. Which I don't want. Ugh.

I would definitely stay with a light color on the finger nails but maybe you can do purple on the toes? Since they won't really be in the "classy" pictures but you could still take some fun ones later.

I'm contemplating doing purple toenails cuz I got a stupid fungus on my nail and I need to cover it!

I wore red. But of the photos I have you can't really see them. When I get more, if any of them show my nails, I will post them!

I was thinking of doing a color too, I'm not too worried about it. I rarely paint my nails though, I'm a massage therapist and the nails have to look nice and clean and I chip polish all the time.

I went with colored nails, kind of a dusty rose color, almost. I don't have the pro pics back, but in the pics my friends took, you hardly notice the nails. I agree, French manicure is boring for a wedding Smiley smile
