When do you Want to do your cake???

I've been to weddings where they do it right after dinner.

I've been to weddings where they do it near the end of the night.

(in some areas the cake represents the night coming to an end)

    * talk to your venue on when THEY like to cut the cake. It takes time to cut and serve all that cake, and they might go down to a minimum staff and wish to get the cake cut by a certain time.

Wow, guess I'm in the minority as we did it after dinner. Our reception went as follows:

    Cocktail Hour

    Entrance/Introductions

    Toasts

Dinner - somewhere in there we must have cut the cake

    Dessert

    First Dance

    Open dancing

We did a reception line after the wedding at the church and we had no parent dances. It worked for us! And I wanted to make sure I got dinner and actually got to eat. Smiley smile

We did our as soon as we were introduced. But the wedding I just coordinated did there's right after dinner. It was a lot different but I think depending on the size of the wedding party and guest will kind of let you know what way to go.

We did two dances. One right as we entered and a second one to open the dancefloor. The second dance was a choreographed foxtrot and gave me the perfect opportunity to showcase my reception gown.

    Before, immediately after intros.

DJ introduced the parents, then each pair of BMs & GMs, MOH & BM, then us.

Straight to the dance floor we went.
