I've been mentally struggling and have a bad habit of caring what people think, but recently I came across a thread of a couple who had a Courthouse wedding then was doing a wedding/vow renewal later with a big ceremony and reception. People kept commenting rude things about it saying they just wanted the gifts or the show of being married and it made me feel so awful about it. My situation is that my fiancé (or legal husband) is in the military and as soon as we were engaged, he said it would be most logical to get legally married right away. Of course, I never wanted to do it that way but I love him so we did. We went to the clerk recording office, didn't say any vows or exchange rings but just signed paperwork to show the military. Now, I'm planning a large wedding ceremony and reception with family and friends (6 months after being legally wed). I keep feeling weird about it after that post now. But, I want to say my first vows and have a ceremony under God. What's the opinion?
