Marriage License for Destination Wedding

Lesley, on June 22, 2018 at 10:50 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

I live in CO but am getting married in FL. Does anyone know if I have to get the marriage license in FL or can I get it in CO?

Typically, it needs to be from the county/state you're getting married in. We're getting married in the next state over, so we'll need to go to the town clerk's office up to 90 days beforehand. Google FL laws, the time frames are always different, some licences are only valid 60 days prior to the wedding.

In Florida, marriage licenses are valid for 60 days but need to be returned within 10 days after the ceremony. If I remember correctly, destination weddings to Florida don’t need to wait three days to get their license like we had to
