March Beach Wedding?

Elizabeth, on August 22, 2016 at 3:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I am thinking about planning the wedding for the end of March 2018 and we know we want to have it in Myrtle Beach, SC. I am worried the weather might not be warm enough as we would want to have the ceremony outside on the beach. Anyone have any experience planning a beach wedding end of March on the east coast? Would the weather be too cold?

You might want to Google average temperature at that time of year to get a better idea

Here on the west coast (warm Gulf of Mexico) of Florida, in March the avg. daytime high is 69.

I would imagine it would be cooler in SC along the Atlantic Ocean.

We are in Virginia and our March was unseasonably cold. We got engaged on March 20th, the first official day of spring and we were in our winter coats. What I saw said the average high is 68 degrees in Myrtle Beach in March. Not too bad.

ETA You are also going to be right on the water, so it will be cooler there.

I've been to Myrtle Beach in March, it was nice but it was a hot year and we got lucky. I remember going to Florida in March and having to wear sweaters because even my Canadian butt was cold in the 60*F weather.

My boss's son was married in February outdoors in South Carolina (not Myrtle Beach, but close. Can't think of the name). My boss said that it certainly wasn't beach weather, but their long sleeve dresses were perfect.

    ETA: grammar

I live close to there. It won't be swimwear weather, but you could still have a nice ceremony on the beach. Although I'd provide blankets and warnings to guests about weather potential!

I'm also having a March east coast wedding. You can expect low 60s. Wind is not as bad in Myrtle beach, but there will be some wind since it's the beach. If the suns out and bright it might be mid to high 60s. Sometimes it can be the high 50s but that's rare.

My friend lives an hour west of MB and she is in spring/ summer clothes most of the year. If you plan for either sway of weather, you should be fine.
