March 28, 2020 wedding date

I want to hear what you all are doing if you have to cancel your big ceremony/reception because of this virus.

Here’s our story of what we went through and are still going through.
Or wedding was scheduled for March 28, 2020. We live in Washington and they just banned everything with 50+ people. All restaurants, bars, hair salons, schools, gyms, etc closed. We were forced to reschedule. We had 210 guests attending. I’m so sad, disappointed, and a bit discouraged. We’ve been planning for over a year. As soon as Gov. Inslee made the announcement, I immediately emailed and called all our vendors. None will do refunds. So I got a new date rescheduled ASAP! Announcement was made at 12:00pm yesterday, by 5pm yesterday I had a new date set. I requested an addendum from all vendors with our new date. We had to schedule a year out to make sure all vendors had the same date available and that this virus would likely be under control by then. Our new date is July 31, 2020. WE ARE STILL GETTING MARRIED ON THE 28TH OF THIS MONTH! We are NOT letting this virus ruin that. We are doing a small gathering of just our pastor, parents, siblings and some of the bridal party that can make it. We are doing a fb live video of the ceremony for everyone else to see. Our celebration in July next year will be a do-over/1 year renewal/we survived quarantine without divorcing party! We will do the whole ceremony & reception over.
Our honeymoon to Bora Bora is still up in the air. I’m checking daily for updates in Tahiti to make sure we will be allowed to get off the plane there. I’m praying it doesn’t get cancelled!

Let’s all take a deep breath. This is very sad and not something we ever imagined we’d have to deal with for our wedding days... but stressing and worrying won’t change anything. Stress lowers the immune system and that is opposite of what we all need right now. I know it isn’t easy, but try to find positives. We will move on. If you want to be married to your amazing, hunk of a fiancé....do it! You only need the two of you, a pastor and two witnesses. Then have one hell of a reception later once this has all gone away. It’s not what we imagined, but we have to make do with the hand we were dealt.
One more thing, if you need to reschedule with vendors...DO NOT WAIT! Their schedules are going to book up fast! Get your new date on their books ASAP! And have them send you an amendment to your contract with the new date.
Good luck all you fabulous brides!!!!!

    Hey former date twin!
We decided to pull the plug Sunday. We contacted everyone Monday. Planned on having a small wedding party ceremony.
Contacted our venue. She gave us first pick. So we got a new date. So far we we waiting to hear from 1 vendor. and trying to figure out our photographer situation. Shes trying to move some family sessions around or help us find a photographer. We tried to get a marriage license today. But they wouldn't let us. so we have to hope they are still open tomorrow.
Today I woke up and basically said I cant deal with plans changing every 10 minutes. Hoping for a beautiful living room elopement.
Formal ceremony and reception on our new date. Halloween.

Why wouldn’t they let you get a marriage license?

What county/state do you live in? We are Pierce county in Washington state. We told them we are getting married in use 1.5 weeks and cat chance waiting for our license by mail. They were very nice and let us in...we just had to stay really far away from them. They had a red tape line on the floor we had to stay behind. We were pretty much the only ones there!

This post made me smile, because my fiance and I are literally going through and doing the same thing as you! We were supposed to be married on the 28th as well, but our reception had to be postponed. However, we are ready to be married and nothing is going to stop that. We already have the marriage license and our officiant is a family member, so we are still going to have a very small gather at our home. When it comes time to reschedule our reception, we are going to just throw a huge party and maybe renew our vows. This was definitely a hard hit, but we are coming out the other side stronger than ever and that is what matters most! Best of luck and congratulations to you!
