Manzanita branches?

MRSDarlin' Now!, on April 23, 2010 at 11:08 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

So, my mom isn't really pleased w/the centerpieces that come with our wedding pkg at our hotel. They are pretty simple & to me, i feel like simple can also be elegant. She feels like they might be a bit too small/informal iThey will consist of a short cynlinder vase w/1 large white hydrangea & 1 large light blue hydrangea. So yeah.. they are a bit simple i guess. There is lots we can do to gussy it up.. but i didnt wanna go overkill yaknow? I'm since they're included, that was a major selling point on the hotel pkg! I dont wanna put a lots of extra $ into it. My receptionist who got married last Sept. said she didnt do Manzanita branches because they were really expensive. I just found some on www.bloomsandbranches.com for like $4 per 2 sticks/branches 12-18" tall. I dont feel like thats too expensive. So, that'd come out to approx $5 per centerpiece/table add'l. Does anyone have experience w/these? What do they look like? How would they stand up in the centerpiece? Advice? Help? Thx!

Well I wanted to do manzanita branches as well but they ended up being too expensive, because it also was the shipping that was costly for me...so what I am doing for centerpieces is pussy willows with branches and crystals hanging off of them. I am getting the pussywillows and branches from my parent's acerage so the cost is $0 and I bought a bunch of crystals off www.balsacircle.com and it will look stunning. The branches I got hold the crystals just fine and I am bunching the branches and pussywillows together and tying them with wire and then putting them in a vase in those gel beads...it's very classy, elegant, a little elborate and very cheap. Just an idea if you don't want to spend the money you can go "branch picking"

Sounds like a good idea Brandy.. love to see photos of that when you're done! I'm trying to think of what else I could add to the centerpieces that would make them less plain looking.. my mom suggested peacock feathers but.. thats not really part of the theme.. idk, maybe I need to rethink the whole thing!

I wanted to do Manzanita branches, too. They're too expensive. Its not the cost of the branches its the shipping that kills you. Plus you have to decorate them. I switched to curly willow.

Do you have any pics of the ones that come with your pkg?

I bought fake bendable manzanitas for pretty cheap. Mine are I think three and a half feet tall though, and they were $30 a piece. I got them in "sandblast/cream" color, but you can also get them in gold and I think silver here. Makes them easier to resell after the wedding.
