Managing Wedding Budget covid style

I haven’t gone this route, but have thought about it I’d I have to. I’m assuming I would still need to pay my pastor for both days, but if we were to have a private ceremony now, I would just have those invited come back to the house for cake and punch rather than serving a meal or anything elaborate. At the most we might grab some cheap pizzas. Currently I’m renting the amphitheater and community center at a local park, but if I was to postpone the big celebration, I would reschedule that rental and then use this pretty little deck at the same park that it doesn’t cost to use.

I'm keeping my budget for the postponed wedding the same (large venue, 150+ guests). That money is already set aside (and some payments already made) and budgeted for, so I don't even think about it. We have a budget spreadsheet to keep track. The small-scale "event" has its own, unrelated budget (chapel + parents' backyard, 7 guests). The cost of which is only 5% of what I'm spending on my postponed wedding.


First, I think it'll help you sit down and determine how much you want to spend (in total, then for each event). Then it'll be easier to fill out your budget. Next, create two different budget sheets and allocate funds accordingly. Since you have shared expenses, you can also track who pays for what (in full or in part) for which event. Good luck!

I like the suggestions above! I would talk with your partner to decide which event is most important to you both. If having a larger party next year is where you want to spend the majority of your funds, I would start there!
