Makeup trial: too much lash? Paging JoRocka

I was really pleased with my makeup trial! My only concern is that the lashes might be a bit overdone. The MUA said she has ones that are a bit sparser that she could use on me. Should I go with those, or are these fine? My grandmother thought the eyes were overall too much, but FH thought the whole look would be great for everyday, lol!

I think once you get your eyebrows cleaned, that will help in lightening the overall look. I also think you could go a little lighter on the eyes just to keep it from being so dark since you do have dark features, but there is no such thing as too much eyelashes. I agree with pp to ad more blush to help balance out your look.

Just my two cents, threading gives me better results than waxing! It hurts, but results are something I could never get with waxing Smiley smile and there is no chance of breaking out from wax! Also, you are gorgeous!

I love the lip. I always love a good red lip!

My 2 cents is to lighten the liner under the eye. Between the lashes and the liner, it makes your eyes smaller. Keep the lashes and go for a lighter line.

Also, I'd recommend some grooming. I know you said life got away from you, but it will definitely help to wax the areas that need to be waxed!

    Hey lovely lady!!!!

I actually think everyone covered quite a bit of what I would have said.... so I'll repeat it with a little commentary on the why. Also- please note- you are beautiful- and this is a really great start- so don't take anything to hard it's not meant as a criticism of you personally.

1.) Brows brows brows brows- go get them done- like- now- today- this week.

Brows are about a million times more important than people realize. they can and will absolutely make or break your look. In this case- it's what's is the distraction.

You're wedding is in a month- you do NOT want to be doing these the week before- go to someone you know and won't fuck it up. make sure they give you a nice little arch- you have the shape for it- and it will allow the eye shadow to really shine.

2.) Upper lip- you will be wearing a lot of foundation *GIRL- you are NOT ALONE** so please don't think this is just you. - any lip hair WILL catch the light with that foundation on it.

#thestruggleisreal- and this is my problem to. - so get that waxed as well- you'll be happy you did.

3.) There is no such thing as to much lashes. I wear 2-3 sets sometimes. Because. LASHES DAMNIT!

So no- they aren't to much.

4.) I think the black bottom liner isn't to much necessarily- but it just needs to be blended out and it needs to stop about the middle- right now I'd say it's 2/3 of the way in to the center of your eye- and it needs to be like only 1/3- to 1/2 at most- and then blended out more with a transition color- it's like she lined the eye and then left it.

5.) Something about the eye shadow itself is kind of meh to me. like it needs more. More depth- more transition- the metallic on top is nice- but it needs more- like a base to make it pop a little bit more. The shape- colors and style are all right- but it just needs to be pushed a little harder then blended more- like everything needs a red bull I think to take it to the next level.

6.) Lips- I'm team GO BIG RED LIPS for life- but I'd use something like Mac's Vino/Currant- or NYX Plum under neath to create a little bit more depth without changing the WHOLE lip stick (I'm a big fan of enriching a color by using a different liner under neath-win win everywhere)

7.) more contour. more more contour/bronzer on the cheeks.

8.) I think the foundation isn't as flawless as it could be- not sure what products she used- but the forehead looks bare to me- which is odd.

You have a beautiful face- and extremely expressive eyes- and a perfect pout- I think all in all she did a nice job- but needs to take it to the next level and make it really pop. You're going to be absolutely stunning the day of!!!

I think your lashes are great. I recommend just cleaning up your eyebrows fersure. Also I think some lighter makeup. Maybe a softer red? If you really want to wear red. The black has to go. Perhaps some softer tones, fersure. Neutral colors would look great on you.

Good luck. If you take any advice post pics. Would love too see Congrats gal

Is your wedding formal or at night? If so, I quite like this look. It's very glam. If it's daytime or not formal, you could tone down the eyes probably. Have you tried airbrush foundation? I have ... erm ... a face that has more hair, let's say ... and it doesn't seem to make my baby hairs stand out as much as normal foundation. It's usually a little more expensive though.

Honestly, if your FH loves it, that's all that matters, not what we think Smiley smile Though I think you look beautiful with the red lip and big lashes.

TemeculaBride, that's airbrush foundation! Doesn't seem to be any better than regular liquid foundation, honestly.

The wedding is afternoon, not evening, but fairly formal and glam: my bouquet is red flowers with brooch centers.

I don't think I have time for another trial, but I'll see if my MUA can lighten up the eye and maybe add more depth and transition without being quite so dark. Maybe some plum? Or green? And layer the lipstick. Thanks for those ideas, JoRocka.

Yes to pretty much everything Jo said.

Brows: You have really beautifully shaped brows. You don't have to change the shape. Just clean up the strays along the brow bone and the strays in the center. By cleaning them up, you are going to notice that the eyeshadow on your brow bone blends more evenly and you will not get the shadowing effect that is happening due to the hair now.

Liner: The bottom line is alright, Jo is spot on in saying that it is too far over. Use the pupil of your eye as a guide. Unless you want super dramatic, keep the liner no farther than the pupil. Black is fine, it will show well in photos.

Lips: That red looks like it has an orange base. By going with something plum or even blue based, it will give depth and definition. ETA: I love red lips. I had them at my wedding too.

Random fact: Orange based reds can sometimes highlight the yellow in your teeth. Blue based reds can make your teeth look whiter.
