Makeup trial: too much lash? Paging JoRocka

This was a whirlwind of a day! I led a concert with my violin students on one side of town, drove half an hour to my makeup trial, went to my bridal shower, then ended by discussing FH's possible transfer to Asia with him while taking the gifts to his place.

I was really pleased with my makeup trial! My only concern is that the lashes might be a bit overdone. The MUA said she has ones that are a bit sparser that she could use on me. Should I go with those, or are these fine? My grandmother thought the eyes were overall too much, but FH thought the whole look would be great for everyday, lol!

I will definitely be getting my eyebrows done before the wedding! They've just gotten away from me with the recent craziness of life.

I definitely want to keep the red lip (my colors are red and gray, and I'm carrying red flowers). Does that mean I should lighten up the smokiness of the eye, and maybe go for a charcoal liner rather than black?

I would soften the crease color for your eyes. I love the bold lash-bold lip look, but I think the color used for your crease (in addition to the lower lashline make-up) doesn't fit well, especially with the shimmery color on your lid.

That shimmery color, in my opinion, fits so well with the lash and works with the lip color; you should definitely keep it!

If you want to keep the red lip, I'd soften the crease color down a shade or so. I think it'll work best with those lashes...and there's never a thing called too much lash!

I like your eye make up! Once your eyebrows are done, the look will be a bit softer. I'm not crazy about the lipstick but honestly I think it's the lighting in you photos. If you are having an indoor wedding, that red probably won't look so harsh.

The lashes look great! I agree the brows are the problem, they need to be cleaned up. Personally I like a bridal look that is more natural and looks like the bride every day. Do you normally wear red lipstick? ETC not to be rude but a lip wax will help the Face look cleaner in the pictures.

I am very fair as well, but that being said, the application of the foundation is very distracting to me. Your forehead looks more natural, but the bottom half of your face has a very heavy application of foundation and powder. Truthfully, it detracts from your natural beauty.

The overall application of makeup is too harsh. I don't think the lashes are the problem - the MUA's technique is (I mean, she has a great canvas to work with and this just isn't flattering). I would setup a trial with another artist just to shop around before committing to this one.

Great, you're paging JoRocka. I've taken advice from her, and she's the real deal. The woman is a magician with make-up.

I'm with centerpiece. You look stunning, your eyes look great, but an eyebrow wax will go along way! It takes away from your amazing eyes!

Your eye brows need a super good wax and your lip is too bold. Also you need to blend your eye shadow A LOT more. If you can afford it I would get a pro to do your makeup. The lashes look good though.

You are lovely but I do think a good brow/lip wax would do wonders for cleaning up your look. Also, Contourcontourcontour, for sure. I feel like the look is a little monochromatic for my taste- too black /white/red for a naturally beautiful woman. Also, not sure that is the right shade of red for you. Jo or Kir (is Kir still around?) will help!

The lashes might look overdone in person, but from a distance and in pictures you'll be happy with them. My sister is a wedding photographer and she always advises that brides wear dramatic eyelashes so you can see them in the pictures better. However, it all comes down to what makes you feel beautiful. If you love them, rock them! If you don't, find ones that make you happy. You're beautiful by the way! I hope your special day goes amazing! Smiley smile

Definitely getting the brows and lip waxed! Hadn't realized how bad i needed them until looking at those pics in the harsh lighting. Not sure what to do about the contrast in the look, though. My hair is nearly black, my lashes/brows are black, and my skin is really pale. I like to wear a red or burgundy lip when I'm dressing up or just having fun with makeup; is it really that bad?

I like the red! But I agree, either go bold eyes or bold lips, not both. Loveeeeeeeeeeeee the lashes, I'd change up the crease color.

Also agreeing with the foundation, your forehead and the rest of your face look different.

    - eyebrows need waxing and shaping

-dont do such a harsh black on shadow. Do a maybe dark brown instead for smokey

    -blush

    -lashes are great

-i say dont do red lipstick. Id mellow it out with a plum pink color.. your eyes are bold enough. Dont need bold lips too

What I noticed first was your brows. They are beautifully full but just just need to be cleaned up a bit. I think the lashes look great

    @loveyoumoore

... did you not see the part where she said "makeup trial"?? Why would you assume she did her makeup herself... you sound quite rude.

I think red lip, OR dark eye. Not both. IMO. That being said I'm a minimalist when it comes to make-up.

I just wanted to tell you how beautiful you are. My plain Jane ass knows nothing about make up. Lol. But I'm enjoying the responses and learning a thing or two :-)

Love the lashes. I too have black hair, black everything and am super pale. I was originally going to go with a darker lip so I asked my artist to make my eyes "glow" as opposed to the smoky eye. I think you would benefit from that since you have such dark features then I think you can keep the red lip. Also agree that once the eyebrows/lip gets waxed everything will be super soft. Here's a picture of my eyes for reference
