Major Venue Regret

Elise, on April 26, 2020 at 12:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 21
Hey everyone! I am a NYE 2021 bride to be 💙. Earlier this year my fiancé and I started our venue hunt and went to about seven different places. The first venue we originally chose reneged on our date so we kinda scrambled to get another venue. That was about 2 months ago. After sitting down to look at other weddings that have happened at this venue and trying to gauge my own wedding style I realize I’m more of a romantic/ classic bride. I love beautiful chandeliers, high ceilings, and hanging flowers. Problem is our venue is very modern. Because of corona we never had to put a deposit down, but we have a countersigned contract so I don’t think/know that we can change it at this point without a major fee. Any suggestions on how to make this space what I want it to be? Major Venue Regret 1Major Venue Regret 2

I think it looks very romantic actually but you can soften it up more by adding some drapery and more uplighting

That’s an upside to the venue it includes catering and it’s location is amazing.

What about tall Eiffel vases as centerpieces? That would make the setting look more dramatic possibly. It’s a beautiful venue!

This venue is beautiful, and the time of year will DEFINITELY help with the “romance” feel. Gosh, to be a NYE Bride!!!! How perfect of a time. I’m sure it’ll turn out stunning!

Lace ( or organza in soft colors of sheer) toppers over tablecloths , add a soft ess with lace texture, or with a soft pastel organza, or mixed color one, over a different shade, or white. Part of the romantic look is soft, and detailed. If 1/3 of the tables have lace, a third of them have the palest soft pink and others a darker shade of a color, you lose the hard, sleek, everything streamlined modern look. No vases or centerpieces that are smooth or Stark. Cut or pressed glass small vases with sprays of tiny flowers, with only an occasional larger soft rose, Asian Lily, or Japanese Iris , each of which has soft, curly or curvy lines, nice in a small but check of little blossoms. Nothing big, high, or chunky. Cut or pressed glass fractures light, bounces it around. So 3 small cut glass vases of little blossoms better than 1 tall large one. Organza ( synthetic, not silk), and cotton lace cloth ( may be up to half poly) look and feel soft, and if you buy a whole bolt it is not expensive. Or buy them or rent them all hemmed, individually. A 54 inch square one is over 70 inches on the diagonal. So it does not cover a 60" large round, but the points go over the edge, and leaves 4 curved sections of the lower cloth not covered. So one shade of basic tablecloth, and a shear of another, will create different shades, and tha creates a softer look. A square larger than the table goes over the table all around, and you see the contrast only on the sides. But play with it. Most laces by the yard are a single color. But the sheer organza used for overskirts on formal dresses or party dresses, comes in soft colors, but also mixed sworls of color, or romantic florals. A key to romantic, is not to do everything all alike. Don't let the eye sweep down rows of anything all the same. If you want, a scattering of tables can have a very low flowering plants, while others have Bunches of small flower in vases. You do not want a million things to set up. So varied toppers the staff does when they put out table cloths, and something as easy as a handful of any of a bunch of small blossom flowers in a small vase, is easy for a waitstaff of florist setting up to do. Romantic is details and softness.

If you have never bought lace fabric before, you can but it by the yard, of much cheaper by the bolt. ( A bolt is 15 yards, usually the price of 10-12) Obviously, I do not colors you like. But this company sells laces, chiffon, organza, tulle, as well as usual apparrel, and if a bolt price is not listed, call.

That venue looks awesome for a NYE wedding! I think a big white dance floor would help too in addition to what others have said. I feel like venue regret is something a lot of brides go through.

You can definitely get the romantic/traditional wedding feel with that venue! Smiley smile

I would just amp up the florals — I’m thinking softer colors. You can do a hanging installation above the dance floor or your head/sweetheart table. Lighting will also make a big difference!
I think that venue is really pretty and a NYE wedding? So jealous! 😍

I think with some drapery and fresh florals you could make this romantic and fit your theme rather well. You just need some softer textures and lighter colors to minimize the modern feel and make it a little more whimsical.

Are you able to add some romantic whimsy with flowers hanging from some of the light fixtures and turning off the neon lighting? You could make your centerpieces candles and flowers. There are standalone lattice pieces you could lean on the walls to give it more of that feel, too. 💜 good luck!

Wow you are really a visionary type of person. All of these ideas sound so fantastic I’m definitely going to have to run this by the decor team and see what they can do with it. Thank you 🙂

I haven’t reached out and asked if I can hang things just yet but I haven’t seen anything in the contract saying I can’t. I love candles and flowers, but I’m shying away from having very tall pieces because the ceiling is not very high. Hopefully everything comes together ✨

You don't have to make it tall. I'm using 9" vases, there are also 6" tall ones and it's been pointed out to me that I can get them at the dollar store! Amazon sells a 12 pack of "molten" looking led light flames candles, too. Don't panic, you've got this 💜

Sorry, hit reply. Above link is one of many small vases , 3" , 6" or more, with perfume bottle or other patterned glass, and a mouth big enough to hold a handful of small blossom flowers, romantic. Sell in sets of 6,12,24, 48 . Inexpensive for what they are. On this page, link to all glass vases.
