Magnet Save the Dates

Mary, on November 7, 2018 at 8:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

Hey!

My fiance and I want to do magnetic save the dates, but I have a few questions!

1) What's the best deal you have found on these? From what website?

2) Did these cost you more than 1 stamp to send?

Thanks!

We did magnets and it did not cost more then one stamp. A bit of advice is do not just drop it in a mail box, it will stick to the side of the box. What we did was we used a post board cut to the size of the magnet and put it in with our STD, so none of them stuck to the side of anything till while traveling through the mail.

I got them on Shutterfly when they were having one of their 50% off deals! I think right now they are or I think Vista Print is too!

Shutterfly, Zazzle, or Vistaprint would be good places to look.

    Great to meet you Mary!!

I know some popular websites to other STD's from are Shutterfly (looks like they are having a 50% off deal right now until Sunday), Vistaprint (also having a 50% off deal right now), and Zazzle (15% off deal with code)!

I believe you'll only need one stamp, but you could always check with your local post office! When I did some research about stamps, it said you can generally send 4-5 pages of regular paper, plus an envelope, for the regular first class (“one stamp”) rate!

Are you using pictures from an engagement shoot on your STDs?

Love the magnet idea! I've always done well with Vistaprint but I hear great things about shutterfly and Zazzle. Each site normally has a coupon, and from what I hear, black friday is a great day to snag them if you can.

Ours just arrived yesterday from VistaPrint! We ordered 100 magnets, and 90 customized envelopes (return address and design on front) for $142. If you go with the blank envelopes, they're free, so they'll definitely cut back on costs. We couldn't be happier with how ours turned out!

To answer your second question: we are including an "Accommodations" card with them, so they will end up costing us about $0.65 to mail out, so unfortunately we will have to include 2 stamps on our envelopes. Your best bet is to take them to the post office to have them weighed.

I ordered mine from Mixbook last week and paid $140 something for 100 save the dates (+ got 5% cash back through Ebates) that I customized myself from a template I got on Etsy. I received them the other day and am happy with the quality. They also come with free white envelopes.

If you can wait, I'm sure lots of companies will by having Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales

My fiancé also wanted magnets but I didn’t like that they didn’t come in a 5x7 option. The magnets seemed so small and were actually quite expensive for how flimsy they were in my opinion. We opted to get the sticky magnetic tape from target and I cut two inch strips and adhered them on the top back of my 5x7 Save the date. It only took a a little less than 2 hours for 110 save the dates and saved us a ton of money and added very little weight so we only needed one stamp.

We ordered magnets from Vistaprint on a 50% off sale in February with the included blank envelopes. They cost $24.99 for 50, so they were basically 50 cents each, plus $7 shipping. They turned out great! We only used one regular stamp to send.

We ordered from Minted and a large discount. They also sent the magnets with a piece of cardboard behind them so they wouldn't get stuck to mailboxes. They only needed one stamp.

Magnet Street is the place i think its best to get these. You could also try Vistaprint. If you sign up for emails from both of these places, they both send out deals and coupons all the time, so i would sign up, and wait a bit before ordering to get the best deal.

I do not know about stamps, i would think one forever stamp would be fine.

At vistaprint, my sister, who got married last year, ordered save the dates on cardboard stock. if you go to vistaprint.com and do a search for save the dates, you can get a deal on the cardboard stock ones (she ordered a linen finish for her rustic theme) and then ordered, along with those business card sized magnets with their photos - her showing her big diamond, of course. This is a nice combination - one formal piece of stationary with just text and some details and one smaller magnet. She matched her invites with the save the dates. A bit hit!!

I actually made my own! They were so expensive. I used our engagement photo with date sign FH made. Than I bought magnetic sheets. I got the photos in wallet size and then I used roll on adhesive for the photo and magnet to stick and then cut them out. I only used one stamp! Here is a photo...

We actually ordered our STDs as magnets! I ordered them when there was a 50% off sale so I got them for $40 instead of $80! We got ours through VistaPrint and they turned out AMAZING!

I haven't mailed them out so I can't attest to what they cost. I know a lot of our STDs are being hand delivered though since we live so close to a lot of our family! My the size and weight I don't think they'd require any special stamp!

You can get 71¢ stamps from the post office, which are for two ounce envelopes, rather than spending the dollar to double. Plus they come in cute designs.
