Magic day?

Marina, on January 24, 2020 at 3:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 24

Lots of my relatives are telling me we should've booked the day in February, like 02/02/2020 or 02/20/2020, since it looks magical. I personally start being upset about us not doing it, too, even though I know it shouldn't be taken that seriously. Still, I remember the fuss about 11/11/11 and I was interested whether there are any couples married on that day? Or maybe someone's happy day will be 02/02/2020 or 02/20/2020? How do you feel about it? Was it on purpose or just a coincidence?

I selected our date only because the date we wanted was booked! We've been together for ten years and I wanted to get married on our eleventh anniversary (10/4/10), but instead we're getting married on the weekend before and signing our certificate on the day we wanted!

Truthfully I'm just going to tell like a date that's on a weekend and in October or November. I just know I don't want to do the month of September because that's the month of my mother passed away. Honey get ready people going to tell you a lot of things that you should do with your wedding but just brush it off because you don't want to let that stuff get you down. Some people choose days because of significance and then some choose date because they wanted a certain venue and this was the date that was open and work for them.

    What’s wrong with 6/5/20?!

Where were all these “helpful” people when you all were planning?

I always wanted a winter wedding, and originally did want the date of 02/20/2020, but once we started wedding planning we decided we’d rather be married on a Saturday, so we moved to 02/22/2020 which I love.
But whatever date you choose is going to be your magical date!❤️

Daughter's wedding was, coincidentally, 1/19/19 -- it was just a good Saturday date and it wasn't until after they'd booked it that she realized she liked the numerical pattern.... While those 2/20/20 and 10/10/20 dates look and sound cool, they are also often EXTREMELY popular, so unless a couple starts booking REALLY early, they are going to have a LOT of competition for venues and vendors, and probably pay a premium for some services. Occasionally there have been posts on this forum from brides for whom specific dates and/or number patterns were among the MOST important things (like, they insisted on a date everyone they knew told them was an inconvenient date, but they chose it anyway because they HAD to get married on that numerical date...). If the numbers are more important than the guests, then I say go for it, but other than that, whatever date works for the couple is a magical date.... Like others said, I'd start tuning out people who want to give you unsolicited opinions -- they can plan THEIR events for those "cool dates"! Good luck! Smiley heart

I agree with what's said above about these dates being extra-popular. My aunt booked 11/11/11 for her second marriage almost a year before but this marriage didn't quite work, the man cheated on her so now she jokes about how this day made her being single (you know, these six "1"s). My parents married on the 4/19/1994 and it was certainly not on purpose and we never even talked about it but last year (you know, 2019) when I was making an anniversary slideshow for them and had to look at the dates quite a lot I noticed that there were too many 4s, 9s and 19s, that was a surprise for me

We are getting married on 02/02/2020. It was somewhat a matter of narrowing dates and their convenience more than anything. I also have a thing about even numbers, so this just happened to work out perfect and was why we chose it instead of our other options. But we didn’t choose it because we had any special thoughts about he date itself.

Yeah, I used a program called Smartshow 3D to make a short video with my parents` wedding photos. They loved it and said it was sweet Smiley smile

We are doing 11-11-2020 ✨ 11 11 is a significant number for us for several different reasons- so much so that we actually both have it tattooed. It is also the anniversary of the 1st time we met AND our first ever date (5 years later). So it was a no brained for us that we were going to be married in 11-11

We got married on 10/05/19 because it was the only Saturday available in October at the venue we wanted. In my opinion, the date isn’t that important. And I don’t think any date “looks magical”. Pick whatever date works for you.

I picked 10/10/2020 a few years ago - mostly because it added up and would be easy for me to remember (I am HORRIBLE with dates). Now it is the most popular date of the year from what I've heard, and it honestly made me want to switch it lol! I do like the numerically pleasing numbers, but mostly because they are easy to remember! So mine was on purpose, but not for any reason other than needing an easy way to remember the date. Smiley smile

I too have this date and I picked this 3 years ago when we were talking about marriage. The reason we did this date is because it does add up. We are both nerds and he is a computer science professor so this was a no brained for us. Also my FH birthday is 6 days before our wedding and he turns 40 so the year 2020 added up is 40. 10/10/2020 = 10+10=20 and 20+20=40. I just couldn’t pass it up!! It has been tough with booking stuff because of popularity but I have Ben able to get everything I wanted so far since I have been planning for so long!!

That is crazy - I can definitely understand not being able to pass it up! And same here! Planning so far ahead of time has definitely been a blessing. I can't imagine having picked the date late in the game. I've had to make decisions quicker for the things I waited on but it has been a breeze since we picked it so early. Also my name is Katelyn but my nickname is Katie - name and date twins 😅

I feel you on the regret - I picked Valentine's Day but then changed the date to the 15th because it was a Saturday and more people could come. I did have big date regret later because I realized it's a leap year!!! It would have been crazy magical to have our wedding on February 29th, 2020. But there's nothing I can do about it now! Don't worry about what other people are saying. I would have LOVED a summer or spring wedding. The weather is so much nicer and the photos will look amazing!
