Lull in Planning

Maggie, on November 1, 2019 at 3:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hey all! I’m at my 6 month mark (having a 14 month engagement so 8 months down) and I feel... stuck. I feel like there’s more to be planned but I can’t think of it!
so far I’ve:
got the venue, got the caterer, got the bartender, got the dj, got my dress, got my bridesmaids dresses, got the veil, got the rings, sent the STDs, got the flowers, got the wedding rings, got the officiant, planned our music, got the photographer, figured out transportation (doing Uber cards), got the centerpieces and decor, made the guestbook, booked our hotel, made hotel blocks, did our website and registry, got the bridal shower venue, and booked our honeymoon. I honestly don’t know what else needs to be done but I feel like I should be doing SOMETHING

Cake? Favors? Bridal jewelry? Garter? Rehearsal/Rehearsal Dinner? Gifts (parents, bridal party)? Start on invitations. Start a rough timeline.

It's probably all the small details now that you've got left. Make playlists? Decor? Make signs? Etc

I was on the same boat as you! When I hit my 6 month I thought I had everything figured out, but now- 2 weeks out- there is still some things we have to figure out! For example, your bridal jewelry, shoes for you and the bridal party, ideas for a send off, (especially if you're having it at night & in the city because options will be limited), hotel for you and FH for after the reception, etc. If you're absolutely looking for something to do, making an outline of how the day will go isn't a bad idea either! When we had our DJ meeting we thought we were all set and ready to go. However, he was asking questions we hadn't even thought about! For example, who is walking in first into the reception and what song will the be walking in to, who comes in second, etc. What song is going to be played during cake cutting? Are you playing the popular shoe game during reception, if so who is asking questions and what kind of questions? (we originally weren't going to, but watching how fun other people were having doing it, we decided to do it!) The little things is what i'm worrying about more than the big wedding topics, like dresses!

I'm in the same boat! April 11th here.

I have a few things each month I'm doing but otherwise not much to do until January. It definitely slowed down in pace once all my vendors were booked and I breathed a sigh of relief after the Save the Dates.

Honestly, I am oh so enjoying the lull and break from the stress of planning, but still keep on top of my to do list daily

How early did you send STDs?

We know our date and have told most of our friends and family who will be invited, but we were planning on doing electronic Save The Dates as well (mostly to send out more details and include our wedding website). I thought those weren't supposed to go out until closer to the wedding, but I'm not sure I see the logic in waiting if you have the date and your guest list set already.

I sent my STDs out last month, people say 6-8 months is appropriate.

Also, half of my guests at least are coming from out of town so needed to make travel arrangements as well
