low budget wedding (but expensive taste) in Philadelphia

Hello, I'm just starting to plan my wedding and I'm having a difficult time. Originally I wanted to plan a destination wedding in Mexico. I had narrowed my hotels and dates down, but had to change me course of direction with planning my wedding b/c my mother was suppost to go for the whole week with us to Mexico so she could "baby-sit" my 3 1/2 yr old daughter. Now my mother is having a change of heart and I don't think that idea is going to work out. So now I am trying to plan a wedding in Philladelphia where we live. I don't plan on it being big. Only about 50 people or so. I loved the idea of getting married under a gazebo facing a beautiful lake or ocean, which is why I wanted to get married in Mexico. So my question is does anyone know of where in or around Philadelphia I can have my ceremony out doors with a beautiful background that isn't too expensive ( maybe 50.00 and under per person)?? Most places I see you need at least 150 peopleminimum for a Saturday wedding and it's sti

Hi Kerri! Check out 'Celebrations' in Bensalem, PA (www.celebrationsweddings.com). They have a nice gazebo set in a lovely garden that would be a really nice backdrop for your ceremony. You can also have your reception there as well and I believe that you would need a minimum of 100 people. You may also want to look into The Spirit of Philadelphia, they offer various wedding packages that may fit your needs. By being married on a cruise ship you would be able to get the ocean backdrop that you wanted. I am a planner serving the PA and NJ area and I would be more than happy to assist you in the planning process. Please feel free to check out my profile or visit my website at www.dahliagalas.com. Happy planning!!!

What about Penn's Landing? I also heard about weddings done at the Camden Aquarium. Not sure about pricing tho.

You try fairmount park. They are a selection of different places and if you really like the water you can try the Japanese tea house in fairmount park. The site is very beautiful and accomodates small parties.

    Kerri,

The Boathouse at Mercer County Park would meet your requirements.

Good Morning Kerri. My name is Julie and I am the associate planner for Moment to Moment. Check out our website www.mtmevents.com. I am so sorry you original Mexico wedding plans did not work out. Having said that, we would love to work with you to plan your beautiful wedding here in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. I am confident we can create everything you wanted in Mexico here in the Philadelphia area. I work with any budget. As a planner, I receive vendor discounts and I can actually save you money on many of your wedding vendors. HIRING A PLANNER SAVES YOU MONEY! Someone suggested the Camden Aquarium. I just did a wedding there on April 3rd and it was absolutely beautiful. Although they do not have an outside ceremony site, imagine having a shark tank as your backdrop. There are several locations that you could have your wedding and I would love to work with you. Please email me at *******@*********.*** and we can discuss your vision in more details.

I second the Boathouse at Mercer County Park. I wasn't to get married there but I have too many people. If you have a small number of people you can def do it there. I hear you on the expensive prices though! It's killing me! Horrible area! Smiley laugh
