Los Cabos versus Puerto Vallarta for January honeymoon?

Noor, on November 3, 2018 at 1:36 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3

Hi all! I am having a lot of trouble deciding between these 2 places. We are going in mid-January for about 6 days. We decided on Cabo first, but when I googled it seemed like PV was also a great option. We want somewhere safe with beautiful beaches and lots of outdoor activities (snorkeling, ziplining, ATVs, etc.). I have been to Costa Rica before and absolutely fell in love with it. I loved how scenic and high the ziplines were in Arenal. I think what made me consider PV was how it reminded me of Costa Rica in the pictures. I loved how lush it was as well, but Cabo with its desert is also beautiful from the pictures I've seen. I also visited Cancun for a weekend which was amazing but that was for a bachelorette weekend and I'm not sure if I found the vibe to be as romantic. The romantic setting is extremely important, I want this trip to be relaxing and serene in between the high-adrenaline activities. I heard Puerto Vallarta is more romantic in an oldtown way with its cobblestone paths and such. But the video I saw of both places made PV look a lot more crowded. Of course, cost should be a factor as well! (we found great deal through priceline for both places). I'm extremely indecisive lol HELP!

    Hey Noor!!

That's a really tough decision!! I've heard both are absolutely beautiful and they both seem to offer the same types of outdoor activities that you mentioned! Here's what I gathered from some research I did on both of the destinations:

    Beaches:

Cabo - More beachfront than Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta - Beaches are a bit narrower, coastlines a bit more rocky

    Activities:

Cabo - Zip lining, flea market shopping, water taxi to the Land's End rock formations

Puerto Vallarta - Walk along the El Malecon Boardwalk, kayak, boat ride to the Islas Marietas National Park

    Food and Drinks:

Cabo - Local places but has some Americanized eateries, flour tortillas and enchiladas are some of the favorite menu items

Puerto Vallarta - Lots of international chefs so a large variety, really good seafood

It sounds like both of the destinations are very popular, but you two could always find a resort that offers a private beach for their guests! A lot of time hotels can also help you set up any excursions you may want to do and have recommendations for places to go and see! I've also attached the WeddingWire Honeymoon Guides for both Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta! Both of the guides have awesome information to help you make your decision! Check them out:

I don't think you can go wrong with either destination!!

Thanks so much, Rebecca! You seemed to have outlined the differences perfectly Smiley smile we ultimately decided on Puerto Vallarta! Islas Marietas, romantic zone, ziplining, Las Caletas and horseback riding are all on our itinerary and I am so excited!
