Looking For Cheap Reception Options

Sarah, on January 8, 2020 at 4:43 PM Posted in Michigan Planning 0 2
My fiance and I keep hitting dead ends as we are planning for a wedding reception venue somewhere in the fall of 2021. We have had to move the date because the thought of planning is overwhelming and most places seem booked. We are looking to keep the cost relatively low around 3k. Nothing extravagant probably just rent a tent, tables, chairs, serve alcohol, play our own music with speakers and cater out pizza. I have been looking at parks however most do not allow alcohol. Each time we find a location it falls through or the cost is a lot more than advertised. Our problem is finding land somewhere in southeast Michigan or within an hour or so that allows this type of flexibility. Is this goal achievable? Has anyone else had success with this type of reception or have advice ?

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Sarah.

I’m sorry you've been having issues with your planning. It must be very disheartening when the plans fall through.

Have you spoken with the company that you’re renting the tent from and asked where they have pitched it for weddings in the past that had alcohol? This may be a great way of finding some space!

Alternatively, do you have any family or friends that have some space at their home where you could pitch it?

If you have a small guest list check out breweries in the area. A friend has their reception downtown and rented the space it was nice and so much fun!
