Marina, on February 14, 2020 at 11:30 AM Posted in Planning 2 12
What are some questions you asked the managers during the tour of your venues? Or what are some must all questions you wish you would have known???

There's so many lol. Do you allow open flame candles, glass bottles (beer), licensed bartender, do you require event insurance? What time are we allowed to arrive to set up/get ready? What's included: tables, chairs, linens, drapery, audio/visuals? Do you have a list of vendors that you reccomend? Will I have day of coordination?

Everything she said plus do you have free choice of caters and bartenders if not included. Is there minimum person count you just meet, what is the max capacity, are any decorations included( some places have vases and mirrors) can you bring in your own chargers, table overlays, chair sashs etc. Is tipping included in the price or is that extra. Do they set up and take down decorations. I'm getting married at a golf course so everything is included in my package all I need to do is drop off decorations and show up. Each venue is very different. and be sure to ask about bad weather alternatives if any part of your ceremony or reception is outside. Have fun!

Adding to previous posters, these were some of the questions we had asked

Is there a cake cutting fee?

Will there be other weddings/events going on at the same time if there are multiple rooms?

Will there be enough parking for everyone?

If catering is provided inhouse, what is offered to children and how much per plate?

What are food alternatives for those who are vegetarian/vegan etc?

    How long is open bar?

Can we leave our decor/stuff there and pick it up the next day?

If linens are offered, what color choices are there/ how much would it cost?

The best thing to do is read through their contract, then ask questions that come up after that.

Ask about payment plans, deposit, forms of payment, etc. Do they require insurance? How many weddings happen per day and what does your payment include hour-wise? What does their backup space look like? Do they have required vendors for you to use? Do they allow shots and what time is last call? Sound ordinances in the area? Parking? Covered parking? Do they spray for bugs? Do they allow pets? Do they have a bridal or groom's suite? What do the guest bathrooms look like? What is the wifi & cell service like? When are you allowed to do a rehearsal? Do they provide staff the day of? What does the venue rental include?

If you PM me your email address, I'll send you the 3 page document I made for venue hunting. It has every question I found that I needed answers to and has spaces to write down all the information so you can go back and review/compare venues after the fact.
