Long Island Wedding Ceremony - Covid-19

Brandi, on June 15, 2020 at 12:58 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 6
August 2020 Bride Here!!!
After going back & forth with our wedding venue (who unfortunately was not helpful and would not budge on compromising absolutely anything with us) we decided to cancel our wedding event. We still went to get married on August 1st and we have our own officiant, but we wish to still have a nice (small) ceremony at a beautiful location indoors or outdoors.
Does anyone know any ceremony only locations on Long Island that we could possible hold a ceremony at?!? I’m open to all ideas!

I know public parks can be used for ceremonies only. not sure about now though but you can check that! and there could be some local chapels around you? try the vendor tab on weddingwire.

Where in Long Island are you? Perhaps check the Port Jefferson area? Danford’s is beautiful and on the water.

It could be worth calling botanical gardens, country clubs, and hotels - even if they don't normally advertise for small events! They all have the capacity for smaller events (and definitely can't hold huge ones right now), so I'm sure they're working quickly and creatively to try to accommodate smaller celebrations whenever they can!

Did you get a full refund for cancelling? Our wedding vendor is saying we have to pay 40% of the total. Our wedding is on August 22nd.

If there are government regulations in place that do not permit the venue to hold your wedding for them to keep 40% of the total amount due under the contract would be unjust enrichment. This means that the venue would receive money for services that they did not perform and so they should not be entitled to that money. They would be "unjustly enriched" if they were to keep the money.
