Is anyone else having a long engagement?? He asked me to marry him on 5/20/21 which was our two year anniversary but we wanna wait until I’m done with my bachelors degree in the spring of 2023. It’s a 23 month engagement 💖

Congratulations! Nothing wrong with a long engagement but it is a very different tone then the busy rush of a short engagement. Probably for the best if you are also dealing with school and graduation. Every couple is unique. Do what works for you.

We initially wanted to get married within 12 months of getting engaged but, due to COVID uncertainty and family members health concerns, we decided to postpone by a whole year. Our new date is exactly 24 months from the day he proposed, 2/22/22!
My FH and I moved on with life and are not waiting on marriage to start building our lives together: moved in together, bought a house, adopted a dog, etc. We are essentially living like a married couple and just taking more time to plan our wedding, treating it as a public exchange of vows, legal union, and celebration with friends and family.

Wow! My guy proposed a year ago now.. Getting married 8/3/21. The advice i can offer is
*wait till after wedding season to buy your dress much cheaper (either new or 2nd hand)
*stay aware of getting complacent after planning the bulk of your wedding. You get a sense that you've tackled the big things so the small details you have to wait for can fall to the wayside and sneak up on you at the "last moment"* take your time weighing your options (D.I.Y.ing things or paying ) * take advantage of all the tools on this site!!!! ( planning, budgeting, etc.) Keep a list of every wedding purchase because it can get away from you QUICKLY! Smiley winking* find cheap things online! You don't have to spend big money buying from bridal shops or wedding specific places! ( once you add the word wedding or bridal to any service or purchase its tacks on more $00s to the price!! )

We married exactly a year after my husband proposed. Unfortunately because of Covid the wedding was pushed back to October 2021 so it'll be 2 years for that since he proposed.

    Engagement date: 1/11/19
Original wedding date: 10/10/20 Postponed wedding date: 10/30/21.
Our original date was an already long engagement at 21 months. But, we wanted that specific date, so waiting was fine. Thankfully, with the pandemic, we had plenty of time to make decisions about postponing. So adding a year that increased the engagement to nearly 34months (since it’s at the end of October). Initially it was fine. But, in April, the dragged out lengthiness of our engagement hit me and I cannot wait for October to arrive. Two years was already long. But three years is excessive, and I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone, no matter their circumstances.

We got engaged 05/22/2021 (On our 9 year anniversary, we are middle school sweethearts since the 8th grade!)

We want to purchase a home together before the wedding, we don't even have a set date but the wedding forsure won't be until 24mo+!

Makes me feel like I'm not alone Smiley smile

I got engaged in June 2020 and won't have our wedding until May 2022. I personally, love having a long engagement because I feel like it gave us a better chance to plan without being stressed about not having enough time.

I got engaged July 2019 and bring married July 2021. It's worth waiting. You have more time to plan without address stress of time. There's nothing wrong with checking out all things bridal. It gives you an opportunity for ideas. That's what I did precovid shutdown.

Ours will have been 17 months, mostly for covid reasons. If covid hadn't had been a thing, I think we would have done it within 6 months, although on reflection I've loved this time and loved being able to plan things properly. I've known a few people who got married in much less time than us and they've been madly rushing around at the last minute trying to sort things out and I'm hopeful that having seen it happen to others, we'll have pre-empted a lot of things that they're only just doing last-minute. Fingers crossed anyway!

Got engaged March 2020 right before COVID and getting married in August 2022. 29 months! It hasn't felt long in a bad way. It has felt relaxed and natural.

Yes! That’s our plan too! House first, wedding second! We don’t want to start our married life living in someone else’s home. And who wants to make a registry full of stuff you either 1) have to share or 2) have to leave alone until you have your own space.. you definitely aren’t alone!

Yeah! We were engaged in Christmas Day 2020 and our wedding is going to be 09/10/2022....it’s not what I prefer, I do want to just be married, but coming out of Covid restrictions, and planning financially, and then needing good weather...it just is what it is. I feel you!

Yes! My fiancé and I recently got engaged and I’m hoping for a wedding in fall 2023. He’s working on his PhD and wants to get past his qualifying exams. I’m a journalist and law school hopeful.
We’re moving to Arizona soon but want to get married in Alabama, where most of our family and friends live. The way I look at it, I’m excited about having all that extra time to look around and figure out what we both want at our own pace.

Yes, got engaged July 2019. We're getting married July 2021. It was so much easier to plan the wedding I wanted and make sure the vendors are available.
