Lodging cost

Lillie, on May 30, 2019 at 2:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Who am I responsible for lodging 🤷 looking at 50 guest. Most will travel 4 hrs to the venue. Some will travel 2hrs. What am I responsible for when it comes to the folks who need a hotel? Is it rude to toss a bunch of strangers in a large Air BNB?

I agree with PP. It's obviously a very nice gesture if you can afford to pay for rooms for your guests. However, even if you can, that is just one more thing for you to plan and manage! It's your guests choice to attend the event. They can decide to drive or stay over.

    Hi there Lillie!

As Emily mentioned, you’re not responsible for paying for all your guest's accommodation. However, you can help them find affordable and great places in the area to stay in! On your Wedding Website, you can share some great accommodation options for them!

Here are some articles from the WeddingWire ideas section you may find helpful when doing so -

Would you consider doing a hotel block for your guests?

The only thing that is expected of you is to make a hotel block so everyone can get a discounted rate. Other than that, I'd just let everyone find/pay for their own lodging.

You should only be responsible for your own lodging. I’m sure the guests would not expect you to pay for theirs as well as you are hosting the wedding itself.

Just yourself! To make things easier for guests, you can either do a room block or at least provide information on nearby hotels for guests. It's always easier to go with what the couple recommend because even Google Maps may not show that a hotel, while technically close to the venue, may be a pain in the butt driving-wise.

Your guests are grown adults who are perfectly capable of finding their own lodging. You could book a hotel block, but it's definitely not required Smiley smile

You aren't responsible for guest lodging. I'd set up 1-2 complimentary hotel blocks in the area, include it on your website & in your invites, then let them book if they want.
